Streamers who organized or participated in large-scale, high-stakes events achieved the highest average minute viewership (AMA).
The May 2024 live-streaming landscape was defined by a significant surge in competitive, event-driven content. The primary thesis identifies that streamers who organized or participated in large-scale, high-stakes events—such as marathon streams, private tournaments, and the inaugural Kings World Cup—achieved the highest average minute viewership (AMA). This trend underscores a growing audience preference for structured, competitive, and collaborative programming over traditional solo gameplay.
Kai Cenat secured the top position for the month with an AMA of 91K, driven by a 100-hour Elden Ring marathon. Other notable performers included Caedrel, who capitalized on League of Legends esports coverage, and SXB, who saw a massive spike in viewership through his involvement in the Kings World Cup. While established figures like Jynxzi experienced a slight decline due to a lack of major esports events, the leaderboard remained diverse, featuring international creators such as Ibai, AmineMaTue, and WestCOL, all of whom benefited from the global reach of the Kings World Cup. IShowSpeed represented the sole YouTube Gaming presence in the top ten, highlighting the continued dominance of IRL and travel-based content.
The analysis covers global streaming activity throughout May 2024, focusing on the top ten creators across platforms including Twitch, Kick, and YouTube Gaming. The findings are based on AMA metrics, which serve as the primary indicator of audience engagement. The data suggests that while personality-driven content remains a staple of the industry, the ability to curate or participate in high-production, event-based spectacles is currently the most effective strategy for maintaining and growing a top-tier streaming audience.
