The Play Your Process method establishes a systematic framework for bridging the gap between business process management and serious game design. By utilizing Business Process Model and Notation as a foundational input, the methodology enables designers to translate complex organizational workflows, rules, and objectives into interactive digital adventure games. This approach ensures that the resulting simulations remain faithful to operational realities and organizational values while simultaneously providing an immersive environment for educational purposes.
The efficacy of this framework is demonstrated through the development of the game Desaparecidos, which successfully converted a police missing-person reporting procedure into an educational experience. Empirical validation indicates that this method leads to a statistically significant increase in player comprehension of intricate service processes. By mapping specific process activities, actors, and rules directly to game-specific mechanics, the framework effectively balances the requirements of organizational training with the necessity of ludic engagement.
While the current application focuses on public service procedures, the methodology offers a scalable approach for institutional training across various sectors. Current research confirms that the framework successfully improves immediate knowledge acquisition, though future development is required to refine social interaction mechanics and evaluate long-term knowledge retention. Ongoing efforts aim to expand the applicability of this design process beyond adventure-style games, addressing the need for greater entertainment value and broader genre versatility to ensure sustained engagement in professional learning environments.
