Savvy Games Group, a gaming and esports entity backed by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, recently conducted a high-level delegation visit to China to strengthen international commercial ties and advance the kingdom’s Vision 2030 gaming objectives. Led by Vice Chairman HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud and CEO Brian Ward, the delegation held meetings with government officials, game developers, and publishers across Shanghai, Beijing, and Chengdu.
The primary objective of the trip was to coordinate preparations for the upcoming Esports World Cup, scheduled for July, and to deepen existing partnerships within the Chinese market. A key focus of these efforts is the collaboration with the Chinese esports tournament operator VSPO. In 2023, Savvy Games Group solidified its position as VSPO’s largest international investor through a $265 million capital injection. This partnership is central to the organization's broader strategy of connecting global esports markets and establishing Saudi Arabia as a premier international hub for the gaming industry.
Leadership emphasized the strategic importance of the Chinese market, which boasts over 400 million esports fans and significant industry revenue. By leveraging these insights and expanding their network, Savvy Games Group aims to build a sustainable and profitable global esports ecosystem. The visit underscores the company's ongoing commitment to long-term capital deployment and international integration, further cementing its role as a major player in the global competitive gaming landscape.
