Gamecity Hamburg
The event ran from August 20 to 24, 2025. It included 34,000 trade professionals.
Gamecity Hamburg's recap of gamescom 2025 reviews the organization's "Road to gamescom" program, which brought four Hamburg-based indie teams to a joint booth within the Indie Arena Booth in Hall 10.2 of the Cologne trade fair. The piece serves as both a post-event summary and a promotional bridge to upcoming Hamburg industry programs.
Gamescom ran August 20–24, 2025 and drew more than 357,000 visitors, including 34,000 trade visitors, nearly matching its record attendance, with tickets sold out from Thursday through Saturday. The Indie Arena Booth, described as the largest joint booth at the fair with roughly 200 international indie games, was a high-traffic destination. The Hamburg teams presented Mooneye Studios' IKUMA: The Frozen Compass, Tiny Roar's Lou's Lagoon, Wetterfest's Frisia – Tales & Tides, and ThinMatrix's HomeGrown. Beyond visitor feedback, the developers made contact with publishers, journalists, and other business partners. German Federal Research Minister Dorothee Bär toured the booth with trade press and politicians on Wednesday.
Additional Hamburg titles appeared at the show, including Pipapo Games' Map Map (tied to its 2024 Ubisoft Newcomer Award at the German Developer Awards), Mo Rai Games' Aethermancer, Happy Hippo's Cosmodrill, and Shapes & Dreams' Beacon Patrol. Project Manager Helen Krüger spoke about working in games at the heise stage. Networking extended to the traditional industry party on the Rhine, women-focused meetups, and a small Portside Game Assembly gathering hosted at the booth.
Looking ahead, the organization promoted the Polaris Convention in Hamburg on October 10–12, where it planned a joint booth and a Gamecity Treff networking evening, and encouraged developers to follow future "Road to" programs and its monthly newsletter. The page's news sidebar also lists later 2026 initiatives, such as Games Lift incubator applications, Prototype Funding, and the Portside Game Assembly on June 25–26, 2026.
