Ubisoft has officially announced that its tactical shooter, Rainbow Six Siege, will be a featured title at the inaugural Esports World Cup.
The Esports World Cup Foundation has officially confirmed that the tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege will be a featured title at the inaugural Esports World Cup, scheduled for July 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This inclusion marks a significant expansion of the tournament’s roster, which already features major titles such as Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, Honor of Kings, and StarCraft II. Participating teams will compete for a portion of a multi-million-dollar prize pool, though specific qualification criteria and tournament formats remain to be finalized.
The integration of Rainbow Six Siege into the event follows a precedent set by the game’s appearance at the 2023 Gamers8 tournament, where eight teams competed for a $2 million prize pool. The event is being facilitated by the ESL FACEIT Group, a subsidiary of the Saudi Arabian government-backed Savvy Games Group. While Ubisoft maintains a primary partnership with tournament organizer BLAST, it is expected that BLAST will collaborate with the ESL FACEIT Group to manage the Rainbow Six Siege competition.
This development aligns with broader industry trends, as evidenced by the attendance of various high-profile gaming executives at the New Global Sport Conference in Riyadh in October 2023. While the Esports World Cup represents a major addition to the 2024 calendar, Ubisoft continues to manage its own global circuit, with future Six Invitational events confirmed for the United States in 2025 and France in 2026, alongside upcoming 2024 BLAST R6 Majors in England and Canada.
