Prototype Fund News: June 2025

The UK Games Fund has announced the selection of eighteen new portfolio companies for its sixteenth funding round, providing grants of up to £30,000 per project. These funds are specifically designated for the commercial development of original intellectual property within the UK independent games sector. The latest cohort includes a diverse mix of both established, commercially successful studios and emerging entities, reflecting a broad spectrum of talent within the domestic industry.

The selection process for Round 16 was characterized by high demand and a significant influx of first-time applicants. This surge in interest highlights the ongoing resilience and innovative capacity of the UK indie development community. The successful applicants represent a wide range of creative projects, including titles from studios such as White Paper Games, State of Play Games, and Draknek, among others.

In response to this sustained interest, the organization has reopened the Expressions of Interest phase for the Prototype Fund. This process remains open for a limited duration, contingent upon internal review capacity, after which selected eligible companies will be invited to submit full applications.
