Create free accountso hello everyone my name is silly I'm if I'm from murder of games ventures and doesn't arm of my games and today I want to like give you an idea what could like perfect game company pitch deck looks like we investing in video games companies sent for my last time in emerge Evie it's two and a half years now I so more than towns and so modern towns in the peaches and I realized that there is no perfect like framework for given a given speech I gave a piece for investor because many many pitches contains some my necessary information just texture too much time to get your
through it and some pitches like some important and essential parts in there so I decided to create kind of perfect pitch deck so give you an idea what it's how could it looks like and what should it can say stuff so it consists of ten slides it's pretty clear and easy and please don't pay attention to details any all the other information here is fictional so it's only don't think that's what I will here it's like the general idea I will what you put in the pitch deck so the first slide its interest light I think it's pretty important and it should you're containing your game company's logo and your name and the purpose of the pitch deck so in my case it's serious alien investment proposal pitch deck and the date is May 20-22 give you give the investor the idea of what's your what's the general purpose
of the pitch deck and how act how I show and Carla days so it's pretty clear and then it goes their most important slide in hope each deck I guess its founders because I believe that in a gaming company in the game startup founders it's one of the main and the most important assets so it's very important to introduce key decision in the company like right away so it should include further role of the founders and their previous experience and track record and it's it's very good when you have a LinkedIn link if to your profile so I just follow the link and get more information about you experience and what are you guys up to and here you know yeah sorry to interrupt but I I think you might need
to press play in the slideshow I don't know because it's still maybe you're not but I just want to check because it's not showing the slides as shown me and you I think I'm sure it's Jimmy's powers we can just we can just see I saw it we can just see the PowerPoint the whole thing but not the slideshow it looks like you need to press play from start or something an actual PowerPoint maybe I don't have you've got two powerpoints open maybe it's different ones we got plenty of time it's okay we not be the last one so sorry yeah I just didn't want you to go through the whole thing in them go it's not showing okay uh-huh that's perfect there you go right yeah fine thank you you're folding you know so I was thinking about the most important slide it's fathers slide and here at the
bottom of the page you could see like a mission of the company I think it's pretty important to articulate the mission and what's your aptitude what's your idea at the company in my case I said that my friction of rest of the games is founded by industry veterans and focused on multiplayer mobile games with social core and original IP sand much and must work in a deal you could came up with something that would serve it best but that's that's my case and the second team point slide is team composition I think the team is the second important part in the company and it's pretty important to understand how many people you have where are you based and what's your previous experience and how it is translating a mantra meaning so it's really important to state your burn rate in my case is 50k per month and your target is Bernie
because often when you raise money you have to increase your burn rate hire more people and it's crucial to understand what the actual burn rate would looks like after you raised after race the investment and it's pretty important to take the previous experience of the team like at which company they worked in and but don't you please don't use the terms at like the kind of their team has 600 years of experience combined I believe that experience doesn't combine and it just mmm just something that could confuse to ensure investors and it's pretty important to state you hiring and management strategy in my case I came up with the idea that my company would hire top tier hats and we would save some money by hiring remote and cost-effective development teams it's
it's a great idea and during the current time it's something that you could think about and this slide is your previous titles and your previous experience it's great if you have previous success so you could just stay here how many didn't loss and how much revenue generated by you by your apps but it's it's perfectly okay if you don't have any successful titles you can just stay here you previous experiences because if you failed and you learned some lessons out of it it's also it's also normal and it's perfectly fine with us so you could just state something so stuff here that you won't work that but it's it's great if you have worked on titles that got some success and some some scale because it's not just it's not it's not
guarantee it wouldn't guarantee your future success but when you are like familiar with how big that was operating and how good like could be looks like how do you do and run by hopes for example and their big titles in most communities so it's transforming your just forming regions of our mindset and so it's pretty important to understand that you you had that experience that's general slide for the whole presentation this is about here game that's here developing in my case I came up with the idea of combination of fission mechanic and modern deep question really like meta perfect fun to use fake screens and using some you know art from other
because it's not commercial based things to show and you should just just leave you idea about what kind of game you're developing what would be the core gameplay would be the meta gameplay and what's your monetization idea so in my case I'm came over there with them proved mechanic or mechanically efficient is pretty popular mechanic and proved meta game let's just move in a different different titles and my idea of transition is we're gonna sell sell premium currency and it could be spent on speeding up chest and loading and purchased some missing resources and a few screenshots just give your potential investor a clear idea how you think the game would looks like the second part of
the game pitch is computer analyzes so it consists of two parts first its position I think it is pretty important because it would find the idea of we position in other market income parents of other competing titles because yeah you you need to translate your idea in a short term in a visual way so you could do that in comparing so that's this Malick's is just an example you could use any other axis to translate your idea I choose to compare into two points at the deepest deep difference of the meta and accessibility of gameplay so my vision is our game would have really deep meta income parents and with other competitors and
it would be really accessible and I think that's what class are you LM golf - deep with their computers and we about to do the same thing and their second part of that slide is toca Paris its serves them matter that I should show my investors that there is some money in that niche so don't be not hesitate to show successful titles here and it's always you you always have some comparison some comparing titles so please try to find something that it's close to your idea and that maybe you close comparison try to use analytic tools like app magic for example - or a penny to you to get numbers and estimated numbers of them lowest and revenues to show your potential investors what's your potential revenues
and it looks like the next slide is roadmap and keep eyes it's also very important to show not just your current keep eyes but it's it's dynamic it means that you are working on you game and your custody improving its mechanics and you work with with feedback by the players and you could analyze data and you can analyze mmm what's going on in your game and you're constantly improving your KPIs and the game and please be realistic in there please provide what realistic or dates dates on when you're planning to run itself lunch when you're about your push your game to global lunch and let it
help investors to understand how much how much money you need to complete your game but prepare your game for it for global launch and what's your current metrics look like because you know game game oriented investors to be familiar with keep your eyes and of other games and they would compare here KPI with others so please try not to cheat here because on the next step you'd be asked it could be asked to provide access to you analytics tools and like provide proof proof you numbers and one more point think it's car size and make sure that it's at least one key one thousand players to make some trustful numbers and it's one it should be one key
players any one year and at least one hard paying users to measure monetization kpi's then its company enforce slide and investment proposal it's something that usually missing in which decks like you just saying how great here companies are wait you game is but it's not clear what you're asking for so please make sure to clearly state the amount of funds you're raising and maybe some non-monetary things you're looking for from your part from your digital partner in my case I'm stating that cap table cap table it's a it's a table describes ownership of the company so in my case it's there are three founders and they're some VC fund that we get on board on the previous round and this round we are raising two and a half millions at ten millions freewill
pre-money valuation it's debatable so please be ready to justify your assumptions on how much my you what's your valuation at the moment and don't focus too much under why we shouldn't please have like stereoscopic vision on their own terms and take an account other things besides money because first thing you should consider is how fit your vision with investors vision are your company and what kind of what kind of benefits they could bring on the table besides money because you know everyone has mine now and you have choice and valuation could be not the most important thing at the round but please make sure to justify to justify the amount of money you're raising at
this at this time in my case I've seen that 1/2 million I need to keep my company runyan and I'm about to spend 1 billion for acquisition it's very important because in some cases he would keep would meet with investors who could offer you something like some different schemes for example it emerged we we provide more money for marketing separated from money from for development and from this statement I could see that I could offer you something better than just two and a half millions in exchange for equity in the company I could invest only 1/2 million get less shares in your company and provide you with 1 million for marketing in kind of a different way which would be mutually beneficial for both sides and I'm trying to say that multiple measures are welcome here and the minimum check
is 500 thousands it's just to get get through potential that's not the idea of how you see your potential partners how how could they looks like I have to attract some NGO visas on this round or you're looking for a single investor who should cover the whole round and the pretty important things here it's a closer date expect court date in my case is December 2020 I just give you a potential investor the idea of are you in hurry or there is some plenty of time to have some info conversation and negotiation and please make sure to run you raising a forest in advance because there is rare case when you could raise the money in less than three months
because it takes some time to approach the best first you have some multiple negotiations to do divisions and if you need money like next month or you're gonna bankrupt it just would be a deal-breaker for for plenty for many investors so it's super important to state real closure date and I were to expand what do you expect - you call this round and it's great thing to have but it's not mandatory to show off your long term goal in my case I'm mentioned that it would be a great thing to me to exit in three to five years at six million plus valuation I think that's important you get a line within this region because you know when you when you get we see on board your camping is for sale seen that moment and you have you have to have Alliant vision feature for you for your business
because if you fear not about you exit the company at some point it would be a problem if your partner want to do that so make sure to state as much and express as much information as possible and to express your vision and you your idea of like a future this next important slide is for Caspian ale it's something that's commonly used for serious eight companies so because you already have some fraction maybe you have even a rainy stream already but if not please just create a cost part of the P&L and because there's something you could have even you don't have any
various objections right attraction right now but you could calculate it out of your company budget and you're expected how much time you need to hit a break-even point breaking point is when you come profitable so usually you should raisin you should be raising money enough to survive til the next round or to heat the break-even point so this peeling forecast is circled for justification for the amount of money here you're raising at the moment because you will be asked by the investors on what would be their usage of funds you're raising and that's a likely way to show how the money originally would be used what would be used for and the great things things that have its you're expected keep ice you could construct it by using your
previous experience or by exploring your competitors and talking with you know other other founders were using any other resources to construct a division that's the important thing to have because it's kind of a goal they think you targeting and that's help it doesn't help investors understand are you have a touch with reality and issue expectations are realistic and is your whole business plan is realistic because you know for investors it's really weren't you understand how this venture would benefit for them how much how how they could make money out that's investment and stating these financial
calculations and their expectations is cause a lot of questions right away and the last slide is the thank you slide it's also important because it's have it should have your contacts I think the most important to think it's your email here and that's how you could get connected by your potential potential investors and partners so that's that's it that's the last slide of the neck and I would leave for you could find the whole piece deck on my medium or face book my thing it's videos please feel free to get it and modify it and use it as a template for your own presentation awesome Wow thank you very much Julia that was you know I'm sadly you don't get the real bone of the pause because you could never you can hear can do it
but yeah virtual radicals that was really good really detailed um we've got a few questions actually if you don't mind answering a few questions from the audience and I I thought some a lot of detail in there and I can obviously that's your perfect perfect pitch deck how does that compare to that the pitch decks you see typically you know and you get up it's decks are you getting I mean you've asked for them but you're getting quite different things yeah you know I'm usually the physics we get in a week you know the high quality once well sometimes they lack some essential parts as a investment idea for example the as I said the pitch deck could represent the company or a product and I was you know I was all excited and I'm about oh there's nothing that I could be interested in and then like I
am expected to be a trust for something like what you guys looking for and then when I missed it I should you know contact the founder and ask them and find all the crucial details about our potential collaboration like much later than I could have yeah okay and I've got a couple questions I'll go through so one of them relates to just that is is this is this some pitch day you know it's just a typical thing for most investors investors obviously you wouldn't come to you I get that but is this pretty standard questions everyone wants to ask all these some specific before the way they're you know I think that's kind of fun general knowledge it's for us for I'm not but I think it would be great to use it for pitching to any other investors but keep in mind that it's you know game industry specific and it's it's expected your
potential partner have an idea about games market and etcetera because it lets the industry overview drive for example because you know I appreciate see games on but they'll go into different you know computer I think it's very very good in that it's very open generous to share this around um you mentioned a few things so it's another question from the mentioned kind of burn rates and projected burn rates obviously people can work out how big their team is now but the question is how cash do we estimate the projected burn rate is under estimating that level a concern or can you go too high to you a with that yeah actually I have for an exam of game company's budget so you could construct your hiring plan and the positions you are looking to close in the nearest future and their salaries and some text multiplier so you could calculate for each month how much money you about to burn its that's all the
expenses combined like you into your cover salaries you to cover office rent you any other stuff outsourced service etc and then you have a sum of it and then for each month you have that statement with you about your hire for example to developers in March so you have two more positions in March and then you are about to hire like a 3d designer and the you monthly bill rate increase on a salary of goodies and then you have like total sum so you will get an idea about you total amount of money you need to get to a certain point and you would have a hero monthly burn very dynamic so if you take a look at my LinkedIn or Facebook you would find Tim
played four games company budget so you could use it and so that's very helpful right now I'm a couple of questions kind of related here one is what's the most important aspect when you're looking at people often say in talks that it's all about the founders and the team or makes kind of sense because they can make the game and they might not succeed with the first game is that is that true and also on the flip side there are there any common mistakes that developers make when dealing with investors or in their pitch decks yeah as I said as I said or at the very beginning of my presentation it's really important to others the most available as the company because we invest in people in first place and if your idea is not that great at the moment UK came up with something different if you're if you have weight on the right here weight intrapreneur so we would invest in people in teams and even if your current project wouldn't turn otherwise a success you
came up with something different at the pilot stage so yeah I think that's it's super important but even if you don't have any previous experience and it's your first game in business it's also possible to find find investments in your company so if you like at some point fear that you could force other part example if you like experience you could force the idea of product if you have a idea idea of the product it could be a problem but because you know something all right well experience say it's not necessarily Tommy's implant that's right you know one of the most successful investments in mrgp was in a company without any experience in game development we invested in this proceed
stage where even no company being incorporated so and now they're making a multi million revenues so yeah it's absolutely possible to get investments without any experience okay cool another questions well so I'm Harry Francie oh not anonymous so how important is it to display the Marc opportunity for certain niches I mean you take to comparison different games and how I think it's really important or in first place it's important for for yourself to understand to your position on the market and like to justify for yourself is this game idea have any potential because when you have just a rough idea in your mind and you don't you don't put it on paper and you don't do homework on get idea of if there are any real potential for your idea you'd be you think that you could
be you know other positive about your idea you would be you you could use you would find any evidences of real like for your success and you would ignore any obstacles for that yeah I've got to follow quick questions and I'll let you go so you've got the best technique stuff go on so um anonymous question considering forecasting is usually a guest tonight I guess this goes back to what we said before how much value do you find in it because I I guess that's what I was looking at although other person was asking a question was looking at was how did you forecast you know what your burn rates gonna be when really have no idea how much costs forecast is crucial Erin's forecast is guesstimate that's for sure but you could came up with that estimate is better than if you had done
we and we understand that it's not something that would be would be like wheel and it would be adjusted at some point yeah but if you have it we could talk about it we could you know do you mind about why did you create such estimates and what's your what are you basing on you can help how those estimates I guess yeah it's good you gotta start somewhere right otherwise what you don't yeah sure final question from the audience is is or paraphrase this I guess are there any things changing in terms of the type of investment or the things invests looking for as a result of the codes crisis and the potential recession as ahead I presume that as impacting to some degree I think their most valuable it back here air that we become more comfortable and investing in a remote in remote teams
companies because right now we work in remotely and before that crisis it was very important to invest in companies that sit in one place and like that felt like a company and without you know having an office and sitting in one place it was icing downside right now I think we don't care about that anymore and it brings more opportunity for distributed teams yeah yeah okay brilliant well thank you so much for all thanks for showing that as you said we'll we'll make sure we paste that link in this window and in the discord for people to check out you all be involved or MLG people in the best connector which people are signed up for not so saw you oh subscribe so that's that goes well today and yeah we'll see hear more from you later hopefully you'll come out of this with some amazing new signing deals that we all read about and write about in there in a couple of years time thank
you for your time thank you very much indeed digital radicals for me at least okay goodbye you
Securing investment in the gaming industry requires a disciplined, ten-slide framework that prioritizes founder credibility and operational transparency. Investors evaluate potential partners primarily through the lens of team composition and track records, as these factors serve as the strongest indicators of future execution capability. A compelling pitch must articulate the core game mechanics and market positioning while grounding the vision in realistic key performance indicators. By providing clear financial forecasts, including burn rates and break-even timelines, founders demonstrate the business acumen necessary to manage capital effectively and navigate the complexities of the development lifecycle.
The investment proposal itself must be transparent, detailing the specific funding requirements, the current capitalization table, and the strategic value sought from potential partners. Beyond mere financial backing, successful pitches define a clear long-term exit strategy, ensuring alignment between the founders' vision and the investors' expectations. While initial project concepts are important, the ability to demonstrate a grasp of business reality and a commitment to sustainable growth remains the deciding factor for securing funding.
The global landscape for game development has undergone a significant structural shift, particularly in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The previous reliance on centralized office environments has diminished, as investors have grown increasingly comfortable with remote and distributed teams. This transition has effectively removed geographic barriers to entry, allowing organizations to operate across dispersed locations without compromising their ability to attract capital. Consequently, the industry is seeing a broader democratization of opportunity, where the quality of the team and the strength of the business model take precedence over physical location.
