Nintendo
Nintendo’s consolidated financial results for the six months ending September 30, 2025, demonstrate significant growth driven by the successful launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware. Net sales reached 1,099.5 billion yen, representing a 110.1% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. Operating profit rose to 145.1 billion yen, a 19.5% increase, while profit attributable to owners of the parent surged 83.1% to 198.9 billion yen. This performance was bolstered by strong hardware adoption, with 10.36 million Nintendo Switch 2 units sold alongside 20.62 million units of associated software.
The company’s financial position remains robust, with total assets increasing to 3,636.1 billion yen as of September 30, 2025, up from 3,398.5 billion yen at the end of the previous fiscal year. Net assets also grew to 2,818.3 billion yen, supported by an increase in retained earnings. Despite these gains, the digital business and IP-related segments experienced slight declines, with digital sales falling 2.8% to 155.5 billion yen and IP-related revenue dropping 12.4% to 33.3 billion yen, the latter primarily due to lower movie-related income.
Looking ahead, the company has revised its full-year financial forecast for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, projecting net sales of 2,250 billion yen and an operating profit of 370 billion yen. Strategy for the remainder of the fiscal year focuses on maintaining momentum for the Nintendo Switch 2 through a pipeline of new software releases, including titles such as Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, while continuing to leverage the existing Nintendo Switch installed base. Additionally, the company has implemented a change in its dividend policy to reflect these updated performance expectations.
