Nintendo
Nintendo’s financial results for the first three quarters of the fiscal year ending March 2026 demonstrate significant growth, driven primarily by the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 platform. For the period spanning April 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, net sales reached 1,905.8 billion yen, representing a 99.3% increase compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. Operating profit rose by 21.3% to 300.3 billion yen, while net profit grew by 51.3% to 358.8 billion yen.
The dedicated video game platform segment served as the primary revenue driver, contributing 1,851.3 billion yen to total sales, a 106.7% increase. Hardware sales were bolstered by the introduction of the Nintendo Switch 2, which achieved 17.37 million units in sales during this period. Conversely, sales for the original Nintendo Switch hardware declined by 66.0% to 3.25 million units, reflecting a transition in the product lifecycle. Software sales for the Nintendo Switch 2 reached 37.93 million units, while original Nintendo Switch software sales saw a 12.1% decrease to 108.93 million units.
Geographically, the company maintains a strong international presence, with 77.2% of total sales generated outside of Japan. Digital sales remained a critical component of the business, totaling 282.0 billion yen and accounting for 50.4% of total dedicated video game platform software sales. Despite increased research and development expenses and advertising costs, the company has maintained its consolidated financial forecast for the full fiscal year, projecting net sales of 2,250.0 billion yen and an operating profit of 370.0 billion yen. The company continues to support its ecosystem with a robust pipeline of upcoming software titles for both platforms.
