The Esports Advocate
Mobile Global Esports, a company focused on the Indian collegiate esports market, has fallen out of compliance with Nasdaq listing requirements. Less than a year after its July 2022 initial public offering, the company received a notification letter from the exchange after its share price remained below the $1.00 minimum threshold for more than 31 consecutive days. The company now has 180 days, or until October 9, 2023, to regain compliance by maintaining a closing price of at least $1.00 for ten consecutive trading days, a goal often achieved through a reverse stock split.
The company’s financial instability is underscored by a total lack of revenue since its inception in March 2021. Despite raising approximately $9.84 million through its IPO and subsequent private investment, the firm reported net losses of $262,000 in 2021 and $1.29 million in 2022. While management estimates that remaining cash reserves of $7.54 million can sustain operations for 18 to 24 months, the business model remains unproven. The company relies heavily on a single 10-year renewable agreement with the Association of Indian Universities, and its current market valuation of $15.52 million is significantly higher than its reported assets of $9.26 million.
This development highlights a broader trend of volatility among esports entities on the Nasdaq, joining other struggling firms such as FaZe Clan, Allied Gaming & Entertainment, and Motorsport Games. Mobile Global Esports must urgently demonstrate the commercial viability of its collegiate tournament model to avoid delisting and justify its current market valuation to investors.
