shield style gameplay a lot of PvP combat with other people in the game and it's really cool because these types of fighting games were like starting to come out now like chivalry I also mentioned for honor earlier lots of fun people excited about them it's a new way to fight and it's you know it's really fun but it's also built in this fantasy world where apparently at the time you know there just were no black people or women and there's a lot of people that want to keep it that way apparently that sounds horrible but that was totally that was totally a joke as in at the time there was no black people or women yeah it's it wasn't that the way it was according to video games it's been that way for a very long time so who was asking for this feature is it I mean what what uh what a bold statement in 2019 to to make to give people a little more context the developer obviously had white male characters in their game and then there's the option of you know potentially being like a minority or a female character in this game still doing battle and drawn combat with other people that you're running into but
there's some toxicity like the community is rampant with racism it's rampant with obviously any sort of competitive game there's insult insult culture just there because you're running into some random person online you're beating them and you're using it as an opportunity to glow for some reason like it makes a lot of people feel good but even worse so it allows them to you know drop the n-bomb or drop f-bombs not the eff use that one but like they have a blank version and the problem with that is they're like oh I'll never see this person again I could see whatever I want I can feel good humiliating this person so their communities are plagued with toxicity you'll see this a lot in MOBAs obviously you seen a lot in online fighting games this game no worse the problem is the developer behind the game seems very afraid to actually take a stand on doing anything to improve the toxicity or to to prevent certain like very blatant racism or depictions of those types of things by not allowing african-american
characters minority Spanish whatever or female characters to exist in the game because they've created a whitewashed button yeah they said to anybody who is offended or who may be concerned or who who would ruin their gameplay experience to even possibly share a battlefield with a minority character or a female character if you hit this button we will revert all of the other players you see back to the default white male aesthetic and that is apparently their stance which to me is very silly because it's 2019 we've been playing games that allow people to be minorities and females for well over 20 years now yeah you know not as many as like we're seeing now like obviously that's a ramp up over the 20 years yeah but what I'm saying is this shouldn't be something that people are talking about no one should be afraid that you're gonna alienate a customer base by allowing more inclusion and more representation for other players aside from that I'm looking at the game for
the first time this is a gorgeous [ __ ] game it is a bomb a skin ah do you think it looks better because there's no african-americans or female I shouldn't just say it looks cleaner I'm kidding I don't understand the decision behind that like it didn't it doesn't it wouldn't hurt my experience but I think it was one of those issues about game the game development studio behind this who's who made this uh actually is given some crazy my head we're hating on a developer and we're not giving them credit like I wonder if the worry was yes we know our player base are terrible people do we risk driving them away with correcting them which is the question right I mean this looks great Mordo developed by the Slovenian independent studio try tear tritonian I guess is how you pronounce that yeah well this is the article that we're
referencing right for PC gamer driving players away so this is definitely not helping them when they were just leaving it yeah they said you know we're gonna leave it in the players hands they to me that sounds like when I hear Slovenia an independent studio I'm gonna think I'm thinking maybe a smallish team where it's not necessarily that they personally have or don't have a stance and I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt here perhaps it is literally just a financial thing where they're barely making it they're not doing great I'm not saying that they're like about to shut down their business but this might be an opportunity with like hey we're like making some money off of this this is helping the studio this is awesome we want to sustain this as long as possible and by saying we're leaving it in the players hands as two things one they're trying not to piss off their community in such a way that's going to create a mass exodus or backlash or things that they're actually gonna have to spend time and resources to fix but two they're you know contributing those time
and resources to fix the thing is going to take money away from the bottom line so if they're a smaller studio and you know they haven't made 10 million 20 million 30 million yet have maybe the checks for the revenues all haven't hit the account yet I don't know it just from what I've been able to gather it seems like obviously they're not as setup as I can Activision studio or any a studio kind of thing so I'm hoping for benefit of the doubt they're more like we're trying our best not to not have to spend more money because we need to make as much money as possible like literally it's this or nothing kind of scenario I'm hoping to give them the benefit of doubt man even still I have a social responsibility yeah like I'm reading this in my head right and maybe Larry can read this out loud but yeah I'm highlighting this I can read from here yeah so what we got is as an example one of the forms most popular threads is the post your [ __ ] okay with a K in which
players share images of their character builds the thread started in 2017 when more Dahl was an alpha and is attracted more than 2600 comments since then one of those comments says step up my K and I ggs another says listen here F a ggot when one player questions the racism in the threads title another response you are gay what's the playerbase is it's like a bunch of 12 year olds no I would imagine a 20 year let's talk like this one yes really yes one 80 year olds talk like this 7 year old 60 year old the King not with the cave but that's just their cute internet way of say I didn't say the word yeah I had it okay to it almost silent Wow it's probably like a self-portrait man I think the thing is is like you're seeing this grow because it hasn't been quelled right yeah well there's if there's an in the article it states there's a lack of moderators so there's probably one community manager and it's kind of like
basically taking the key from what you're saying is a small development team they don't have the resources to react to something like this and now it's blowing up and now they're forced to react to it a bit too late what is in their place wait they're reacting though is like to take the there's five people on both sides approach when it's a very polarized black and white pun intended type of issue so the dev you care for the future to leave out minorities and women so they thought that that's the best of both worlds opportunity to say like hey if you want to be a minority or if you want to play with other minority characters or a female go ahead that option is there that's cool and you'll be in that game but if you know so-and-so such-and-such decides that they don't want to see your character be that they can turn off minorities and female as a toggle and then only see like white males and yada yada yada that's that's a feature in 2019 as a feature well I have to say it Slovenia
alright ai-ai-ai-aight one Direction's black people are even on the development team let alone in that country at this yes and I think we got a basically obviously they want to avoid this kind of drama but they don't have the experience to deal with it because they're in a country where they look around 99.9% Slovenian we talked about this it about China right so they don't have the empathy they don't have the solutions in practice to deal with with issues like this within their country within their own life experience right and so for them to kind of like oh we'll just turn it off problem solved and then the programmer leaves the building right talk about lack of empathy you leave it in a programmers handy to see a binary on and off switch as the solution duct tape still works yeah well the game does look the place looks fantastic given that it reminds me of how I felt when I first played eldest girls Morrowind yeah Lovelace but looks looks wise improved
but I mean like the yeah it was dragged an ass you know like like the graphics are impressive for a small development team I can see why people and it looks like welding the sword is very directional like looks like it's very fight night type of there's purpose behind a swing yeah is what I'm seeing it's not like access and create button mash yeah it seems like there's skill skills to build huge bilker and that's what I'll be why it's really fun is because anything with high skill curve these days yeah lobe air entry high skill curve you're you're finding a lot of support especially if the game is actually fun and different right like I can only think of two real games that would compete with this for honor and chivalry yes whereas how many games compete with Street Fighter how many games compete with tech and how many games compete with fight night how many games compete with any other fighting game out there so this like is a unique opportunity what do we got well I mean
though I mean people are aware of this they heard only a little about it I mean I never heard about the game and so this popped up so I don't know if it's good a bad press I'll say I'm sure it's gonna generate intrigue right like I'm sure a lot more people are finding out about this game and actually seeing like it could be cool but then they also know that they're gonna need to be prepared for a very toxic community Iowa Ollis is just say burn the community yeah start over so what we have go ahead if you don't have the resources to moderate it properly like you're gonna Europe you're making it easy for a lot of people to absorb psychological damage yeah and that's where I say like my sense of like just I don't care if I don't have the resources to like do something right if I'm doing something that's allowed for people to be damaged like emotionally and like to be bullied and victimized online and you don't take a stand against that like I'm sorry I guess that's low tier human in my opinion so I never really experienced too much more so like people trash talking right
but never regarding in my race because I don't straight up and go in the chat around my agent or anything right that right like how often do you face because you say it's more ramp it's more rampant RBG and that's probably the reason why I'm so it here's a question for you right like when you make a character in a game where it's I can make your own character yeah do you ever pick your race all mine yeah oh yeah I'm the type that makes exactly me okay can I play me in my game sure and so how used to you are you see or how used to seeing asian people and video games are you versus so I do the same thing I make me I make a black character yeah and I'm one of let's say a hundred thousand people that may play the game now give it some nods it's mostly quiet between right like there there's layers black character you mean and all these non african-american players are like calling my player character and words but it happens a lot help man it happens often enough that
you obviously take note at a very early age and then either have to be desensitized to it or figure out whatever strategy works for you with dealing with it to still enjoy the games that you love but that's an added tax how do we educate like what is this company called from Sylvania I already forgot I already forgot about them it's probably really turning what was it tried try turning oh my god change your name try Eternia alright how do we educate traitor nia from a company that has dealt with this before like Blizzard all right I'm sure those guys have dealt with this before anyway do it perhaps this is their first time with a product that's big enough that they're seeing a global audience have a response to it yeah and so and again this is it might be ignorant because I'm I don't know much about their company other than this product right so this is my first introduction to that this might be the first time where they are seeing like their breath reach outside of their own demographic you know what it means so like you said it's new to them but you still have a responsibility because if you want to stay in the global marketplace yeah you have to understand
that you have a diverse amount of customers you have a diverse amount of people who all want to enjoy your product yeah and if you take the people approach says something as clear as day as an issue as black people and females minorities should not be in this game because I don't like it ruins my experience yeah oh we just made a toggle so those can people can be happy and then the minority people can be happy now you're still pissing off the minority people because you're still taking them out of the game yeah his essentially what's happening you're letting me play something that doesn't appreciate me being here yeah and you want my money yeah the whitewash button is Hollywood all over again how many times we such a crazy thing for them to be so far removed from racism where they think that was a like a valid solution and they're like producer signed off founders of the studio signed off I'm hoping in my department it's signed uh-huh I mean their favorite really just came down to that that feature cost them
20 minutes of programmer time you know ten minutes of QA time and they're like okay cool make it live because now we can please both sides we're not gonna deal with the fighting we're just gonna please both sides that's that's stupid it's it's like going into a battlefield where there's people fighting you know I mean forcing everyone to wear the same uniform it doesn't change the ideals of the soldier underneath the the Nazis still wanted what they were marching for what they were fighting for that anybody anti-nazi still wants their what they're marching for whatever fighting for the uniform doesn't mean [ __ ] well this foot if we were a small developer unless it's five of us we have a breakout hit and it's just super toxic what would be the first step in our shoes if I was in their shoes I mean you could take some serious stances and I don't know if this could work but I think in this day and age you could probably get away with this but like why would you need to see skin on a battlefield like that if we're
talking like Knights and King Arthur Templar like this kind of fantasy I mean you know to be like fully head-to-toe armor where the slit is just like this and there's a lot of options to just say look do you have the male Knight basic body or the female Knight basic body you already have a full body armor set you're only going to get in pieces of armour it may move in real-life sluggishly slow but we're making a video game so we'll make you a little more agile button you literally don't even see that would be the fairway to blanket remove the problem in my opinion is like okay we just took it out all together are you that character where you can only see the eyes or you that character where you can only see the eyes and even then it's just dark in there and even though that's a cheap well it's not cheap actually but that's a solution where you're offending less people I'm assuming yeah but I think you would actually have to take the expensive option and say where do we stand on just the issue that's on the table yeah and regardless of what the cost is it's gonna be better to publicly like
hey you know what sorry understand we don't have a lot of research we don't have a lot of money but even still here's our plan we're gonna remove the feature and if people don't want to see women if people don't want to see minorities tough luck if we lose racist and bigoted players you're improving the community even if you're not improving your bottom line right you'll in the public eye you'll have a bigger win long-term I think with that move then to appease to try to appease both parties in the middle of like a very violent fight you know what I mean to say like oh we're gonna save tens of thousands today but you're gonna lose millions in the long run well let's read this article a little more so you know they considered other options obviously mainly due to lack of resources can we yeah yeah is what somebody posted exactly so but the developers currently unwilling to take a hard stance against this in a recent update they said that
they didn't want to add any sort of world filter partly because people might claim we're censoring it and I you know there's a I can stand F initely see they're wait-and-see approach where they're like let both sides speak freely about their thoughts but I also admire how dota under Lords just completely take out the chat future all together yeah European yes portrait is silhouette you have maybe eight things that you can say that are pre-written none of them are derogatory yes there may be voiceover or like things that you have to be able just clicking and sin yeah I think you could say one derogatory thing and it's about your own account exactly like this isn't my day or something like that you know that's the only negative thing too tightly but they said that their problem extended beyond the game right it was in the forums and all that stuff
yeah well this your there's a place where people can gather and collect and share ideas and there's no one there to basically say what can or can't be done and because there are no constraints you're seeing the extremes of the use of that system because there's nothing to prevent it right yeah so this now becomes a highway for people who have always been prevented from doing that sort of thing and to now publicly be freely able to do it that's so actually why you see such an increase or such a concentration there you know if I can't be racist at the grocery store but can't be racist at the movie theater and got banging where can I be racist yeah you know oh well here in this game because yeah well what is that it seems like that our culture is the gaming culture I don't see this much on the game developer side sure but the gamed of a gaming culture just really leads into this toxicity like I think our crowd and then extend beyond that the nerd culture it just breeds this type of behavior is
it because we're the first to be hiding behind a Internet wall I think and be able does a huge favor for this type of thinking yeah because it's unpunished able yeah what happens at the most what that person loses their account they're like 24-hour band two week band perma ban they'll find another game you know they're creating yeah you can create another account it's half the time a lot of people will just create new accounts just to like drop as much nonsense trash you know just painful to read you know racial stuff on a forum knowing it's gonna get banded because they taste a new gmail address they get a new account in like six minutes and they're right back to know and it's one of the situations where it's not like games breed haters right its haters games attract haters it sees like into the playground and then where once in a
while we see articles like this and not gay I mean I have to I'm not siding with the developers obviously they I think they were too hands off about this and now it's negatively affecting a game which is what they were worried about in the first place ah out of all this sock they were worried about losing players yeah and so all their thinking was talking about themselves yeah about themselves and now when they're when asked about their approach about banning players they even are on the side of caution we do of course act on inappropriate posts or discussions when seen personally that means saying we don't police our players that you don't do [ __ ] okay that's pretty much that whole paragraph was just saying we don't do anything about it it's anybody who's like what about free speech or what about like I understand somebody's want to say like it we should be allowed to say and do whatever the hell we want but that's usually the people who are
coming from the bullying position feeling like they're now being marginalized like the people they're trying to marginalize yeah right like that's it's you know ivory I've rarely seen the argument of like man I keep walking into this room and these people keep just calling me the n-word 50 times a day I've I don't know when I've seen that person be the guy was like but what about free speech yeah they're like no what about you know creating a safe environment where I can enjoy this product that if you need for yeah that I mean yeah it's it's tricky man because yeah in that clear case of racism it's very easy to point that out but when it gets to very segmented groups where it feels like the power gets shifted on the other side of where you're not allowed to freely think without even it being offensive but then that person feels if that group feels offenses yeah you know it's very tricky but in this case is that clear cages like dude moderate
get some moderators and get on the situation because it's it's bad for your game and it was it entertainment software what's stupid is like it says whatever stance we take officially some group of people are going to be upset with us and that's Mike I can't read the last name deserve your asses as far away yeah there's a roast I can just roast yours I can't read that from there well so but again like that's such a [ __ ] standpoint Yeah right like hey you know what look I got robbers on one side and I get homeowners on the other I get it the robbers want to steal the homeowners don't want that I'm the police officer look if I get involved one side is gonna be pissed yeah yeah like I just I don't know you guys work it out yeah obviously whoever to govern within that space would be the developers right and if the police like you said just stand back and just watch what happens they're not doing their job so ah there's a obvious
right side it's like you have good players wanted to enjoy your game in a safe space you saw it with those players the players are in there just to [ __ ] around and ruin the game for you and everybody's experience and our driving player is out there's an obvious stance yeah oh and but it seems like there seems to be a lot of those players at least impression wise but we always know those are just allowed is not the majority you have some balls and do the right thing as a human being yeah right like oh I'm gonna do nothing because if I do anything someone's gonna get mad yes and what I don't want is to deal with who's gonna get mad so but you are you do know that like okay so if both sides are gonna get mad right what side do you not want to have upset with you that's the second part of that question that that original statement doesn't answer like clearly you're saying you're damned if you do damned if you don't but it's a polarizing situation though there
is you're either going to support one group by making the other mad or make that group mad to support the other right that second half of what's not being said is what's critically important and that's what's being overlooked in this you know is that like oh we're just gonna be milking because like okay cool so in doing nothing you're empowering the bullies to continue to believe exactly your platform so that's what you sided with yeah it's a very dumb way this guy needs to stop talking but there's like half the Arctic we're only half the article so the Mordo team seems to expect that too and say that their current plan is to let players disable their new these new options if they want this goes back to the similar situation as a chat filters destro Sears says whatever stance we take officially some group people are trying to be upset with us oh so this is exactly what you were going over and some others will also be upset with us so we're leaving the players hands and give them the option to be able to disable different things there's been endless debates about this and it tracks a lot of toxicity a lot of
stuff we're not interested in interacting to the game stuff anymore on top of what's already present but we're looking to expand our customization says that the team at a Middle Eastern person or female or a black person don't do it properly these guys needs to stop me answer questions right they're clearly out of their field of how to deal with we need to do put real work into it and not appease people we don't want to just put a bandaid we want to dedicate the time or not we want to dedicate artist time to new scalps new texturing it might come along with a larger content patch so it's not just bro no one's gonna play your game like the only time I've heard of your game is when it was horrible like this is the perfect time of anything not that yet press to turn things around and get positive press I remember back in the early days were like if you wanted to be black it was just the white body right the white
geometry with a skin shade yeah I even appreciated that yeah that was like hey you know what a slide I look like the weirdest black dude ever I look like a black Ken doll but at least the skin colors right and plus once I put on all my body armor I feel less and less yeah like I care about that but anything better than this is better in my opinion yeah I think it's it's I'm do I call them out because their game is popular now if they maybe they didn't expect that yes because they're making a product releasing it into the world and they want to sell as many copies as possible as a business so yeah there is a chance that like your game which was like entirely like corn bread white bread makes it into hands of minority players and minority players are upset that they don't see representation but for anyone and the articles would be like how come white people can't have our game it's and goings like I don't know what the word is it's n goods like you getting all butthurt because you're not in the game
yeah yada yada yada yeah shoe on the other foot like okay we'll take out all the white people then just making all minorities yeah I bet you who's the first person to be like oh what the [ __ ] this isn't even authentic just disable the chat you guys can't play nice just talk within your own discord channel yeah people are gonna start their own subreddits share your racist memes and tweets and whatever whatever and a group of people that actually want you if it's their own personal forum yes they have control over that and they can hire a guy an intern to like moderate it and just be on top of it and just delete it yes but if it's like outside of their control yeah anybody can say whatever they want it's not within their ability to erase or promote whatever right because leaving it in the players hands like saying that it's like it's such a cop-out it's such a piece of [ __ ] [ __ ] you argument like I I would love to tell I
would love to share my mind with the development team making decisions like oh we're just gonna leave it in the players hands because what they're then saying is we want to encourage people to fight fire with fire or we want to encourage people to find ways to cope with a situation that we could easily prevent right we have laws we have jurisdiction in pretty much every facet of our life except apparently when we've created some sort of online community where people are just gonna be outraged that they have to deal with this new thing called rules to deal with this new thing called structure things called inclusion you know like oh you know what we know that you know in your normal life you're never gonna see a black person or a minority so we've created a game for that like that's [ __ ] that dude I'm 100% down vote burn it down I don't like that idea you know take a stand cuz then at least let the minorities know how you feel about them right like B be honest like if you're like no you know we don't want to do it we're not gonna do it
we made this game the way it is and that's how it is tough luck cool I know not spend my money there I support you I know not to give you any shot don't don't tickle my balls much yeah definitely more respectable to be like straight up about your intentions for now toxicity and Martos unlikely to change anytime soon whenever the topic of female characters I'm breeding the Artic right now is raised on the forum this works furious debate with players often citing worries about historical accuracy what is going on with these people about women yeah I don't understand why what is this going what is I don't is it because their moms didn't hug them enough or something what does this stance against women it's it's not even the stance against women it's they're looking for the strongest ammunition to support their idealistic view what job has to be labeled as like I'm bigoted or I'm racist around x-ray I'm why I'm busy I'm gonna lean on historical accuracy I
play this game for historical accuracy right do white guys just want to stand around with a bunch of like is that real is that the ideal and from that they won't know what I've seen in how Hollywood movies get made how parts get cast and how things have happened for hundreds of years I think the people in power enjoy being the people in power right the people in power like knowing they're the people in power they like seeing they're the people in power they like supporting that there was they're the people in power see not all I'm not gonna generalize because there's a lot of people were like not [ __ ] that yeah I'm white and I even think we need everything but there's a lot of this there's enough to be a problem but if I were to generalize like I can clearly see that like yeah I see a lot of hey we don't want to live with those people so let's let's see let's zoom this differently let's make low-income housing way over there by the lane evil let's keep our neighborhood our neighborhood you said oh my god yes you see it all the time not just in games just in society but I think that whenever I hear people start saying stuff like historical accuracy
we're not you're not playing the simulation you're playing a video game and even if you were playing a simulation you're playing a video game yeah it's being sold to a large group of people I don't want to go buy slave owned or slave the game historical accuracy Larry you made a brown character so you can only pick this class your cotton picker yeah yeah you don't ever get the experience with me this other content hell no do you feel like we're approaching that or we're moving away from that you don't think from what from someone releasing a DLC and being able to well sell off of that idea I think that when I see a game a weird time right now red simulator and goat simulator and I know how easy it is to get into game development I know how powerful the tools are becoming make it easy and easier and easier for less and less people to do bigger and better projects of course I think you're gonna see the like hey this game is gonna ruffle some feathers let's make it anyway listen like what was that game was it called hatred where the guy in
his trench killing he's just walking around just just obliterating society and that was sold as an entertaining game yeah made huge article presents like the developers I'm sure they knew they knew they were going way left and they knew they were gonna get publicity for them anyway left I'm sure there already is games out there that like I'd be ready to fight people over if I saw them right I I know that they exist already okay I think I'm gonna see more of it okay unfortunately so reading on the raising the topic of female characters on the forum it sparked furious debate with players often citing worries about historic accuracy as we covered before when you're dirt i adding females and and can you add orcs and hobbits it's not supposed to be historically accurate after all you see how the [ __ ] slippery slope ruins everything a slippery slope so it's it's so unrealistic to think that women and minorities exist that you're next
is orcs hobbits I know that's your that's the meter that's we're so far away from white male but that's the the brevet where the breath yeah of people in your society back in eighteen fifteen hundred back when humans were asexual there was no such thing as mothers there was no such thing as so I don't know I don't have any friends like this so it's hard for me to kind of see because I they are so they are so on firm standing in a firm stance on how they feel where they would go on forums and talk like this right I mean how do you build a person we're talking about building characters how do you build a character what is that I don't have that the resources or the history to kind of like oh that's why that's the way they are I just I'm so far removed from that it's
like why do you how do you get to think like this is just not enough hugs or you're always in your home or just [ __ ] happen to you that minorities and females I I kind of I heard I heard or read something somewhere one day that actually like I was like yeah actually I get that as that's dope somebody was saying and I don't know where to credit this but they're saying to the person in power or the people in power equality feels like oppression right so to the person who obviously is not the minority who is like wow look at all my people in this game look at all these like cool things that white people are doing it like look at this great white white white experience right like what they want to put minorities in the game that means they're taking away white people that means they're like they're bringing up something is what is actually happening but to them it feels like they're bringing down like they were just on a high status there or now they're right to like losing it yeah a lot of people assume that in life is like to say that we're gonna bring up people who are underprivileged is not
bringing down or taking away from people who are privileged or even to use the word over privilege because I think privilege and over like redundant like if it like hey Brennan just for no reason I'm gonna give you $100 a day just cuz I like you oh and like your wife I'm gonna give her $100 a day just cuz I like them that guy over there that brown guy we're not gonna give him anything right if I then decide like this is unfair I'm gonna start giving them 100 bucks a day to [ __ ] did you lose anything no but that's that's that's how it feels that's like I'm used to being up here right so what's getting taken away is the status now that makes sense because like now I don't have like a 99 dollar surplus on that guy or a dollar surplus on that guy every day yeah now they're just as good as me you've taken away my status yes so you did take something from me even though you technically didn't take anything from me figuratively speaking religion you have taken away a privilege this is no longer a privilege I'm no longer privileged I see I have been attacked I see I see I
see that makes a lot of sense that's the only thing that I can like what I personally try to equate it to is they feel like they're losing out because we're pushing up from the bottom but that's why I feel right right I want $100 but I understand that now all right that makes a lot of sense because for them they probably feel like and even people in the middle feel don't feel like a certain extreme way right for or against this topic but they might see as you know some minority groups are pushing too far and the inverse of what was happening is not is the same problem right yeah instead of instead of just equality which is what we should be striving for everyone equal and so they have valid argument on that side it's like oh dude come on you're creating the same issue yeah they just flipping the coin yeah that's well that's actually a very interesting one too and that's like I remember you see that happening a lot
right now man oh man don't let a minority group ever try to make their own thing don't ever don't don't ever be public like hey like we are black real estate agents in the areas area we've come together to form a group and to like support you know black families and to do X Y & Z then you will have like all see they're coming into this community and they're doing it they're do you want us to do that do you want us to exclude you from our stuff yeah no they're trying to equalize it we're trying to equalize yeah yeah okay you know I always use like the TV reference ago Channel what else do you what W et you want us to start just making channels where we don't put white people or we don't for black people like that's how TV has been for hundreds but about where do we get television like 2028 so 1930 I don't know I think 1950 is when everyone started 1920s early 40s 50s I remember consumer like
TV being a thing in the home but the actual technology of like the talkie right pictures invent cinema I think we cinema sturly is like the 20th yeah even earlier problem so take from that point to the existence of easy tell me how many outlets you know I can reel of course man like I'm a this is where you know the Asian speak oh yeah we got crazy rich Asians like what else do we want and that's finally I'm so happy for them yeah that that's it's a good movie I like I cried yeah I was like happy for them it was great it was a great movie and it's yeah and it greenlit probably many more Asian film asian-american film and there's talks already about an Asian Marvel hero right finally bro they have Marvel heroes by parent companies exactly but like that's Marvel seeing
that diversity is profitable just smartening up and they just really really went for it and you know black pant how many again see that's okay it's time here's here's unpopular opinion when I see business and corporations digging into the diversity I often wonder to myself do they love money let more than they hate the minorities you know what I mean like ah I really don't want to have to do this but six billion dollars is a lot the only way to beat racism is the color green bra the color bring will trump all and if that if that it is a weird struggle right that we have to face is like yes they're just buying in because it's profitable now exactly and there is like toxicity that comes with it it's like hey man do your Asian thing you know or black thing you know that thing that you do because it's but that's definitely the wrong way to go yeah yeah
there's definitely gonna be a lot of that right with it because they're dealing with I'll speak from Asian American side like now they're dealing with Asian American actors and so they're like trying to put us in a box to make sure that we appeal to our own audience not thinking that we know how to appeal our own audience right so there's gonna be some of that but the bigger picture is that there's a lot of Asian Americans having an opportunity and a chance now I look at my son and maybe yeah 1012 the years down the line he does have a figure if he wants to go into acting that's what comforts me in the greed before like do the right thing yeah where I'm like you know what there now the Black Panther has done so well and like people like oh let's put some money in those markets even if I know that the parent company is like because we can exploit this yes like we're still on top because I decided to finance this we gave you the opportunities even if you do well we reap the benefits I look
down the line and still say but a lot of young children are gonna see T'Challa yeah exactly I don't know how many black people I saw ever like that that sent a wave through a culture yeah that didn't feel like they were represented there I didn't feel like they had in a long time like anybody to look up to and be like wow not only is that me yeah but it's like number one in the box off no it's successful it's seen in a way that makes me feel proud yeah and it's not mocking my culture it's not mocking the right people like everything else it's it started like a huge huge trend a positive trend what black panther was followed with spider-verse and that was a bomb-ass comic movie dude just last weekend i forgot where was but i saw a white kid with the black panther T'Challa necklace and I had the shirt I didn't say anything I didn't make a scene but I took note like that means something that's different and it shouldn't yeah you don't know how many times I've worn Hulkamania of course
[ __ ] Ultimate Warrior all they're like all these white character whatever and been like yeah this is my favorite yeah but like to see that kid and parents didn't stop him like nobody was like all you don't want that shirt Tommy yeah you know here America shirt really witness that appearance stop being kid from from buying into black culture I mean I've seen like expose a zuv the like oh don't buy that doll that's the black doll like ah I say but I have seen this is like the first time where I was like this is a very black thing yeah even though it's Black Panther fictional character I was like this was like a super black right super black and I was like man that kid is wearing it like it's a shirt yeah and I was like that yeah here's what I want because he shouldn't know that it's a thing yeah yeah yeah let's sit it's like me like a mania [ __ ] yeah just be like no this is the thing that I like yeah and I'm wearing it end of story that's a hold yeah yeah I mean that's just positive change and yeah Mortal is
kind of behind the times if they want to sell more copies it's all about being inclusive now it's completely flipped and then in some opinion my personal opinion it goes a little bit too far sometimes on that side because I can see the pendulum is shifting too much but nothing nothing as bad as what's going on in the last 80 years right so all the positive change I wouldn't say started in gaming culture but it needs to end with gaming culture before we see you know basically the younger crowd moving on and I see a lot of these guys I don't even think it's 12 year olds man it's a bunch of 20 25 year olds college do you think we in those forms saying all these things I I can't like I just look at sixteen year old will worry I mean but I look at the level of like the English that's yeah it seems very low volition and just how the arguments are formed and I usually use that as
like a barometer to tell like what kind of individual I'm talking to her what age or what viewpoints well I wonder what fortnight's Lake because I know for damn sure that's is very young the first time you saw fournette you saw like six different characters multi-cultured but there's no puss to sadena than the chaff sure there is I'm sure they're not as bad as I'm sure there's still toxicity but like fortnight's so comically whimsically appealing it doesn't give me that hardcore itch to be like yeah that's right yeah I shot you with a frying pan rocket launcher lots of love shotgun for America yeah like doesn't scratch that itch in my opinion you know but that's just me though you know well that's right merely rocking on your body for the good old US of A hell yeah I mean uh I don't I don't see that I don't see that okay I haven't seen it personally but I do imagine that they probably have their own share of problems just because any sort of online community where I know that like policing is as much as to say like oh you did something wrong
a tower ban what consequence is that really yeah you're just limiting access to something that I was doing I was paying for but you haven't really changed anything in my life you've changed none of my views you've changed none of my opinions you've not made put me in a situation that makes me think you put me in a situation that makes me mad at you because you're telling me that I'm not okay as a person so that's what I see there alright so that ends we hit about an hour for everyone that joined us again we're gonna be here tomorrow with another topic of the day if you want to support us you like what you hear go devour patreon.com for slash blue champs any dollar counts so I do want to say one last thing tomorrow des I mean you guys can do better you made a good-looking game people want to play it yeah don't make it hard for people to play your game yeah like super simple yeah don't make it hard for people enjoy it was gonna invest in the growth of your company and you want long-term sales you want repeat sales you don't want to

The independent developer Triternion has faced intense scrutiny regarding its management of the medieval combat game Mordhau, specifically concerning the prevalence of racism and harassment within its player base. In an attempt to address these issues, the studio introduced a feature allowing users to toggle off the visibility of female and minority character models. This decision has been widely criticized as a form of institutionalized whitewashing that fails to address the root causes of toxicity, instead offering an exclusionary solution that effectively validates bigoted behavior under the guise of neutrality.
The studio’s hands-off approach to community moderation reflects a broader industry tension regarding the use of historical accuracy as a justification for excluding marginalized groups. By prioritizing a passive stance over the implementation of clear community standards, the developers have inadvertently empowered toxic elements within the player base, ultimately damaging the game’s long-term reputation. Critics argue that this resistance to inclusivity is often rooted in a perceived loss of privilege rather than genuine creative intent, and that such policies alienate a significant portion of the potential gaming audience.
To ensure long-term commercial viability and foster a healthier environment, gaming companies must move beyond ineffective punitive measures like account bans. Instead, the focus should shift toward proactive community building and the prioritization of inclusivity as a core business strategy. While corporate diversity initiatives are frequently motivated by profit, they remain essential for providing the cultural representation necessary to expand market share and create welcoming spaces for a diverse global player base. Failing to take a firm, principled stance on these issues risks both social relevance and sustainable growth in an increasingly competitive industry.
