Mobile Dev Memo
These GDC-adjacent workshops focused on mobile user acquisition and product analytics. They were organized by Eric Benjamin Seufert.
The Mobile Dev Memo workshops, held in San Francisco in February 2017, were designed to provide specialized professional development for small- to medium-sized mobile app developers. The primary objective was to assist these organizations in building internal capabilities for mobile user acquisition and product analytics. By focusing on strategic frameworks rather than basic operational tasks, the workshops aimed to help participants transition into leadership roles and integrate data-driven decision-making into their development lifecycles.
The curriculum was divided into two distinct sessions. The user acquisition workshop addressed team composition, budget modeling, LTV estimation, and the strategic use of automation to improve labor leverage. The product analytics workshop focused on the freemium business model, covering topics such as data-driven design, A/B testing, user segmentation, and the impact of live operations on revenue. Both sessions were structured as intensive, full-day seminars.
The workshops were limited to six participants each to ensure a high-touch, interactive environment. Priced at $1,200 per person, the sessions were targeted at professionals with existing experience who sought to refine their strategic approach to growth and product management. The high demand for this specialized training was evidenced by the fact that both workshops reached full capacity prior to the event dates, which coincided with the 2017 Game Developers Conference.
