KLab
KLab achieved record-breaking financial performance in the third quarter of 2017, generating 7,313 million yen in revenue and 1,237 million yen in operating profit. This marks three consecutive quarters of growth, primarily fueled by the sustained popularity of Bleach: Brave Souls alongside the successful launches of Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team and Utano☆Princesama Shining Live. Driven by these results, the company has revised its fiscal year 2017 guidance upward, anticipating the highest annual earnings in its history.
The company’s strategic trajectory centers on leveraging established Japanese intellectual properties for global expansion while simultaneously diversifying into original content to enhance long-term profit margins. Operations are now organized around a three-pillar revenue model encompassing in-house game development, third-party publishing, and non-game business ventures. This approach is supported by a focus on localized market strategies, particularly within China, and the use of cross-media partnerships to maximize the lifecycle and revenue potential of both new and legacy titles.
To sustain this momentum and overcome historical revenue plateaus, KLab is restructuring its internal operations to support a more consistent release cadence. Efficiency gains are being realized through the implementation of a proprietary software development kit, which standardizes core game features for internal and external use, and the centralization of global marketing efforts. By integrating these technical and operational improvements, the company aims to establish a scalable foundation for long-term growth across its international mobile gaming portfolio.
