KLab
KLab’s financial results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025 reflect a strategic pivot toward aggressive cost reduction and the diversification of revenue streams beyond its core mobile gaming business. The company reported quarterly revenue of 1,772 million yen, representing a 16.2% increase over the second quarter, driven primarily by the anniversary campaign for BLEACH Brave Souls and the expansion of Haikyu!! Fly High. Despite this sequential growth, the company recorded an operating loss of 212 million yen. However, profit attributable to owners of the parent turned positive at 774 million yen, largely due to a 953 million yen gain from the sale of investment securities.
Operational efficiency remains a central focus, with the company successfully reducing fixed costs to approximately 50% of levels seen three years ago. This was achieved through a voluntary retirement program that reduced the workforce to roughly 340 employees and a relocation to a smaller, more efficient office space. These measures are part of a broader effort to stabilize the company’s financial position while transitioning to an "elite team" structure for game development. The company’s game business continues to rely heavily on international markets, with overseas revenue now accounting for over 70% of its total gaming income.
Looking forward, the company is diversifying its business model to include high-growth sectors such as AI entertainment and GPU cloud services. New initiatives include the establishment of YUMEKAIRO Production, an AI-focused idol agency, and a GPU server leasing business designed to generate revenue while minimizing initial capital expenditure. Development efforts in the gaming segment are now concentrated on high-potential titles, including the upcoming 2026 release of DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow. By combining these new business ventures with a leaner, more agile development structure, the company aims to secure long-term profitability and improve its overall corporate value.
