Create free account[Music] hello and welcome to Pocket Gamer tour bizzy's in app inspector with me John Jordan so the game we are going to be inspecting today is supercells rush Wars it's game still in soft launch so we don't know how long it's gonna be in soft launch might be there for a number of months a lot of things may change but this is kind of what we've got at the moment we need soft Lodge for a couple of months now so hopefully gives us a good idea of roughly what's going on in the game so I guess if you've played any supercell games before you won't be surprised by any of the broader mechanics obviously a free-to-play mobile strategy game and doesn't have so much base building so this is your base here really it's just kind of like a leveling leveling up scenario and then you kind of go to take other people's kind of rock bases so much as other
people's defensive setups then you can do your own defensive setups as well so in these you know inspectors we typically look at ideas of like monetization engagement so maybe to start off I can just show some of the simple kind of boxes so it's a very loop box driven process whenever you log in if you've been out for a while you get these these kind of just timed boxes are they're just free there then then could be particularly a lot of stuff it's just like a nice mechanic you come in and you get some stuff something see here we're getting gold the in-game currency soft currency and then we're getting cards for our units so the you have units and you have items and that's kind of how you kind of build your kind of decked at the gray so I'll just I'm up a new car bare plumber van whatever he does find out maybe and there we go so there we go that's this at the lowest level sort of
a I guess it's kind of really a retention engagement sort of loop so every time you kind of come in if you come in every three hours you'll have one of these waiting for you just makes you feel good when you when you enter the game I'm super cell very good and this sort of thing um you can see here's a few things flashing at me so I've got some upgrades so say the main thing here is we have our HQ this is level 4 H cube to get to level 5 me as a player needs to be at kind of level 8 XP in terms of XP I'm gonna be level 7 in a minute hopefully we can see that the when we live up our HQ we get kind of better better of quality of these three boxes we get more gold the soft currency and we can still more gold again kind of tivity typical I guess this is like the Town Hall from from clash of clans we have a helicopter for the helicopter carries our troops into battle you can see here that I am I can level it's up to level 4 so effectively the chopper level is the same as your HQ if you pay for the money
if you've got the most pay for it in this case it's gonna cost me 2500 gold I have that so we can upgrade that and there you get a slight different different graphical look you can carry more stuff so pretty straightforward there and then got some upgrades of our troops available something see you and just click on these upgrades if you can see already and come off there is couldn't you I'm not particularly into the game I wouldn't say but there's quite a lot of quite a lot of items let me see as I level up there'll be these different kind of types of units so we've got some troops that we go and use to attack or defend we have some air drops that effectively kind of items you can air dropping onto your troops as a playing of commanders if these defensive kind of units so we use that when we're building our kind of defense yeah so we're gonna do some upgrading obviously the whole point of this sort thing is you always have too much drop grade then you have gold for I probably don't have
anything here so I can't parade this this rocket launcher guy bazooka guy level 7 so I tend to use him quite a lot so that's that one I've got there and now delivered up to level seven as I thought I get a bit of gem so I get ten gems so the hard currency obviously we're gonna have a look at that so this is the store which is not loading for some reason I don't know where that's not only we can see here loot boxes so I can spend 40 gems and get a open a rare box so I can spend four hundred thirteen get an epic box and megabox 2400 it's open a rare box see what baguette bring it to rare cards so there's no more plumber been so a bunch of stuff you don't have a look at that plumber man maybe it was the
plan do the van parks up and plumbers pile out and best things okay so obviously very kind of comic solver atmosphere in this game not serious at all so cannot do smoke gray because I'm upgrading this from level one that's not costing you very much read him again now I'm gonna need to get four more of those cards I've got two of them money could need six okay so that's basically we can kind of see what metagame have a kind of leveling leveling up our troops there's not a lot of that you know it's a pretty kind of kind of smooth streamlined game and in terms of the main kind of gameplay so we have two things here to ever tech and and this goldmine one does just get fed Lee attacking defense so we're going to the gold mine okay so we're going to find a new answer these are on a timer so this is what I do here it's not gold - it's a mine basically I set up some defenses so this is it the very lightest level of user-generated content where I'm creating a base with
some defenses and and other players will be attacking this and depending on how well I do I will generate gold this in-game currency so you can see here that me the point of attacking you'll see when we do the attacking is this three towers to swim ones on one big one kind of a very I'm driven thing I guess you've seen seen this if you played clash royale so I can kind of I can drop my my big kind of howitzer place cotton okay drop my big habit so there it's showing a sermon where it's going to attack so that's all arranged weapon and then I'm gonna need some put some for the machine gun in here although that's not really helping me very much in terms of the way the attacks gonna be so what we might do try and be a bit sneaky and put it there and then we think the troop they looking to attack here so we might put some secret mines in there and see I've only got eight units I can I can drop off so the
each of these units I'm putting in has a certain value so look I might put in some just them kind of put some grunts in there and maybe put in how about one more what's this one here this is like a big bomb isn't it okay so I've used up all my units and I just said and go home and I just - wait now for 24 hours that's gonna work and people are gonna try and attack me and and just if I if I manage to defend if my troops automatically defend then I'll get some gold so that's the defense side let's see if we can do some attacking so attacking be using the textbook using the helicopter so haven't got a commander so I can't use the commander that's when I've leveled up another another one so we can see here that there's only there's a certain set of troops so you can't choose from all your cards it seems to be a rotating set supercell allows you to do so we can I
can retrain my last squad the one I just use but let's choose something different so let's put in these guys see where they get up to what else do I like to have I could drop in one of these items is that me done yeah there's seven troops and one of these airdrop items so I can spend ten gold often not very much and go and do an attack so off we go I'm gonna go now an attack someone else is someone else's defense oh my word so this guy's just gone for kind of like p.m. my Veron like a like a mess tranq I'm sophisticated he just put in loads of troops be interesting to see how this plays out you might do quite well so I've got this airdrop thing which is actually a bomb so I can drop it on here and take one of those guys now you can see the timer started so now I've got to get moving so I'm gonna try and take these out piecemeal and then just drop these guys on into this into this area in it I've got no control now now let's see what
these plumbers do they're gonna get wiped out because they're fighting all these guys boom yeah you can see the ideas of plumbers quite nice but I got was quite good there I am all I did was just about cool so and that was actually really well we can see the belt speeding up now so he hasn't got any troops so my rocket powered guys gonna go and obviously destroy all the enemy emplacements and I'm gonna get the three stars which I need you can get so that that worked out pretty well three stars and then we gonna go into the loot box mechanic flawless victory I get loot and XP and also those stars going to this kind meter you saw there and every time you get five of those you get and you you get given a new loot box you've kind of earned it and you have a key keys are based on time so I've got three keys three keys left off to this while I tap on to open the box and and I'm gonna get we've seen this before me and so I'm gonna get a whole bunch of stuff to level up go back home so actually this
is my defense box so someone's just attacked someone's just attacked my defense look at that so this is showing this is the defense I put in and this person you can see that they're troops they coming coming in and yeah that was not a very good attack they did so um I could end in my defense if I wasn't happy with it but I'm pretty happy with that so there we go so I can claim and claim some stars so that's really that's really that's really the game it's pretty lightweight obviously supercell has has lots of strategy games at the moment so if they don't really want to cannibalize their existing games I want to do something a bit different so this I you know I don't quite know how you place it and it's not deepers kind of clash of clans although they're out there are and alliances and stuff but it doesn't have that depth it's obviously much more about kind of quick play and maybe a little less kind of hardcore then then something like clash Royale we will see I mean since soft
launch they may not ever come out they might super so might decide they're gonna kill it because they've done with numerous games in the past but it's something yeah very much a free-to-play mobile game does those the things kinda we expect I'm officer supercell the main thing for most mobile games now he's getting an audience supercell has no problems getting audience it can just say we've got a new game coming out and it you know tens of millions of people who currently play their games will come and try it out so so that's go interesting in that point of view going back to monetization we have these boxes we have gold so we're using the gems from that they'd be switched off monetization at the moment is you can't obviously buy any gems I don't know why that's the case because say the game is in soft launch so there we go the inspector from Pocket Gamer top is thanks for watching if you have any comments stick them in the comment box obviously good to know what you think about the game if you think it's gonna be a hit or not Melissa snow thanks watching this video and we hope to see you in soon [Music] you
Rush Wars, a mobile strategy title developed by Supercell, utilizes a streamlined, loop-driven design focused on quick-play engagement rather than the deep, long-term base building characteristic of the developer’s other flagship titles. Currently in a soft-launch phase, the game centers on a core cycle of attacking other players' defensive setups and managing one's own base to generate soft currency. The gameplay loop is designed to be accessible, emphasizing rapid sessions over the hardcore strategic depth found in games like Clash Royale or Clash of Clans.
The game’s retention and engagement strategies rely heavily on timed reward mechanics. Players are incentivized to return every few hours to collect free loot boxes containing gold and unit cards, which are essential for upgrading troops and defensive structures. Progression is tied to an experience-based leveling system for the player’s headquarters, which in turn dictates the quality of rewards and the capacity of the player’s transport helicopter. The monetization model, while currently disabled for the soft-launch period, is built around a standard dual-currency system involving gold and gems, with the latter used to purchase various tiers of loot boxes to accelerate unit upgrades.
The game’s structure reflects a deliberate effort to avoid cannibalizing Supercell’s existing portfolio by offering a lighter, more casual experience. While the title includes social features like alliances, its primary appeal lies in its comic aesthetic and simplified, user-generated defensive mechanics. The ultimate success of the project remains uncertain, as the developer is known for its rigorous testing and willingness to cancel titles that do not meet internal performance benchmarks during the soft-launch period.
