Hamburg Games Conference: 5 Things to Do in the City

Published by Gamecity Hamburg on February 13, 2024, this promotional guide gives attendees of the Hamburg Games Conference, held March 5–6, 2024, five suggestions for exploring the city around the event. Its purpose is to encourage visitors to extend their stay and to boost ticket sales and cross-event participation, positioning Hamburg as one of Europe's most popular destinations.

The first suggestion is Miniatur Wunderland, an interactive exhibition of hand-crafted dioramas recreating landmarks such as Mount Rushmore, Area 51, the Elbphilharmonie and the Colosseum, including games-related easter eggs like an Octopath Traveler 2 campfire in the American section. The second is taking the public transport ferry from the Landungsbrücken with a regular HVV ticket, which reaches Övelgönne, Teufelsbrück or the opposite bank of the Elbe and offers close views of cargo ships.

The third is a walk through the Museum Harbour and Övelgönne, near the Altona/Ottensen district where the conference takes place, followed by a stop at local cafés such as Knuth, Tide or Von der Motte. The fourth is a night at the cinema during Oscar season, with Zeise Cinemas in Altona offering indie films in English with German subtitles, and the single-screen Savoy showing English-language blockbusters.

The fifth suggestion links to professional networking: the German Creative Economy Summit, held in Hamburg on March 6–7, 2024, which lets attendees meet people from other creative industries. A combined participation deal is available through the organizers. The article closes with a call to buy conference tickets via Eventbrite, using a 20% discount code. The coverage is local to Hamburg and limited to the 2024 event window, with no survey data or statistics.
