Key Change. GDC 2027 will be condensed from five days to a four-day schedule.
The Game Developers Conference (GDC) is transitioning its event structure for 2027, moving from a five-day format to a four-day schedule held from March 1 to March 4 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. This strategic shift is designed to create a more focused, high-value experience by concentrating programming and networking opportunities during the days of peak community activity. The decision follows an analysis of industry data and direct feedback from the GDC community, aiming to better balance professional engagement with the personal commitments of attendees.
Under the new four-day model, the Business Hall will operate Monday through Thursday to facilitate dealmaking and meetings, while conference programming covering game development, business operations, and industry trends will run concurrently. The Festival Hall, featuring partner activations and community experiences, will be active from Tuesday through Thursday. Career development resources, including portfolio reviews and workshops, will now be integrated throughout the entire four-day event rather than being restricted to a single day. Additionally, the event will host a dedicated Student Day on Thursday to support the next generation of industry professionals.
To improve accessibility, the 2027 event will introduce a broader range of pass options, including new lower-cost tiers. The organization is also maintaining its commitment to inclusivity through a scholarship program that provides over 2,000 festival passes to underrepresented developers and those impacted by industry layoffs. By streamlining the schedule and diversifying access, the event seeks to maximize the utility and impact of the gathering for the global games industry.
