Deal Value. Electronic Arts has entered a definitive agreement to be acquired in an all-cash deal valued at $55 billion.
Electronic Arts has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by an investor consortium consisting of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners. This historic transaction is valued at $55 billion, representing the largest all-cash sponsor take-private investment in the history of the gaming and entertainment industry. Under the terms of the deal, shareholders will receive $210 per share in cash, a 25% premium over the company’s unaffected share price as of late September 2025.
The acquisition will result in Electronic Arts transitioning from a publicly traded company to a private entity. The PIF, which already holds a 9.9% stake in the publisher, will roll over its existing interest as part of the agreement. Despite the change in ownership structure, CEO Andrew Wilson will remain in his current leadership role, and the company will continue to operate from its headquarters in Redwood City, California. The deal has received full backing from the Electronic Arts board of directors.
The transaction is expected to close around the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, or approximately mid-2026, pending customary regulatory and shareholder approvals. Leadership frames the acquisition as a strategic move to accelerate innovation and growth across the company’s core pillars of sports, gaming, and technology. By leveraging the resources and expertise of the consortium, the publisher aims to expand its reach and continue developing its major intellectual properties, including Battlefield, The Sims, and EA Sports FC, while maintaining its existing mission and commitment to its global player base.
