Key Detail. The World Final will feature six players: four from North America and two from Europe.
The National Hockey League has outlined the structure and operational details for the 2024 EA Sports NHL 24 World Championship. The tournament, which serves as the league's primary annual esports initiative, is scheduled to begin in January 2024 following a registration period opening in December 2023. The competition is designed to culminate in April 2024, aligning with the conclusion of the NHL regular season.
The tournament structure incorporates a mix of online and in-person events across North America and Europe. DreamHack Sports Games will produce the championship, with Battlefy managing the online qualifying phases. While online play is accessible via both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, all in-person championship events will be conducted exclusively on the PlayStation 5 console. The final stage of the competition will feature six finalists—four from North America and two from Europe—competing for the world championship title and a grand prize.
Qualifying pathways include both open online play and club-specific tournaments for each of the 32 NHL teams. Additionally, an in-person qualifying event is scheduled for the 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto, where the top four performers will secure high-seed positions for the North American Console Finals. While the 2024 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series will host a mini-tournament for specific clubs, it is explicitly excluded as a qualifier for the World Championship.
