The title sold 1.3 million copies and generated $73.4 million in revenue.
The July 2025 PlayStation sales data highlights a market dominated by EA and Xbox-published titles, with sports simulations and tactical shooters driving significant revenue. EA’s College Football 26 led the month, selling 1.3 million copies and generating $73.4 million in revenue, despite a notable reliance on digital sales—only 5% of which were physical. While the title performed well, it sold at a slower pace than its predecessor, which benefited from higher pent-up demand. Meanwhile, the console port of the tactical shooter Ready or Not achieved unexpected success, moving one million units and generating over $40 million, signaling a strong consumer appetite for grounded, realistic gameplay.
The top five rankings were rounded out by evergreen titles and Xbox-published games, including EA FC 25, Minecraft, and Forza Horizon 5. The latter’s performance on PlayStation, having generated $164.2 million in lifetime revenue from 3.6 million copies, underscores the strategic shift toward third-party multiplatform releases as a means to offset saturating subscription services. Additionally, Death Stranding 2 reached 1.1 million total copies sold, demonstrating long-term engagement with over 65% of its player base logging more than 20 hours of gameplay.
Beyond specific sales figures, the analysis addresses industry speculation regarding the pricing of upcoming blockbuster titles like GTA 6. It concludes that a $100 base price point would be strategically counterproductive. Instead, maintaining a standard price point is recommended to maximize the total addressable audience, which is essential for driving long-term recurring revenue through online service components. By utilizing premium editions for higher-spending segments, publishers can effectively balance accessibility with profit maximization.
