Nippon Ichi Software
Nippon Ichi Software’s financial results for the third quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2014 demonstrate a significant recovery and growth compared to the same period in the previous year. The company reported net sales of 2,777 million yen, representing a 99.1% increase year-over-year. This performance shift resulted in an operating profit of 478 million yen, a substantial turnaround from the 78 million yen operating loss recorded in the prior year’s third quarter. Net income for the period reached 398 million yen, compared to a net loss of 124 million yen in the previous year.
The company operates across four primary segments: package software, online services, licensing, and other business activities. The package business, which released 12 titles globally, generated 2,066 million yen in sales and 220 million yen in operating profit. The online segment, driven by social games and mobile applications, contributed 491 million yen in sales and 318 million yen in operating profit. Licensing and other operations provided additional revenue streams of 100 million yen and 118 million yen, respectively.
Financial stability improved during this period, with total assets reaching 2,506 million yen. The company strengthened its equity position through public offerings and third-party allotments, which increased capital and capital reserves. Consequently, the equity ratio rose to 80.9%. Management attributed these results to a strategic focus on its core intellectual properties and diversified digital distribution channels. Looking ahead, the company has adjusted its full-year earnings forecast to reflect the progress made through the third quarter and the anticipated release schedule for the final quarter of the fiscal year.
