Nippon Ichi Software
Nippon Ichi Software’s financial results for the second quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2023 reflect a period of significant contraction compared to the previous year. The company reported a consolidated net sales figure of 2.367 billion yen, representing a 34.3% decline year-over-year. Operating profit fell by 66.3% to 434 million yen, while net profit attributable to owners of the parent decreased by 51.1% to 426 million yen. These results prompted the company to downwardly revise its full-year earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023.
The company operates across two primary segments: Entertainment and Student Dormitory/Other. The Entertainment segment, which remains the core business, generated 2.332 billion yen in sales and 675 million yen in operating profit, marking declines of 34.9% and 55.4% respectively. During this period, the company released four domestic titles, including Yomawari 3, void tRrLM2();, and GrimGrimoire OnceMore. Conversely, the Student Dormitory/Other segment saw a 74.1% increase in sales to 34 million yen, though it recorded an operating loss of 20 million yen.
The financial position remains stable with total assets of 9.067 billion yen and an equity ratio of 75.9%. However, cash and cash equivalents decreased by 339 million yen during the six-month period, influenced by investments in securities and operational expenditures. Management attributes the performance to a challenging market environment and has outlined a strategic focus on strengthening development capabilities, improving production efficiency, and enhancing brand strategy to achieve the goal of creating intellectual property capable of selling 200,000 units domestically.
