CD Projekt
During the first half of 2022, CD PROJEKT Group navigated a period of strategic transformation and financial consolidation. The central objective of this period was the implementation of the RED 2.0 strategy, which emphasizes a transition to a dual-franchise model supported by Unreal Engine 5. By shifting its technological foundation and streamlining development processes, the company aims to increase its release frequency and long-term creative output. This strategic pivot is bolstered by a workforce of 1,236 employees and a commitment to expanding core intellectual properties, including the initiation of a new Witcher saga and the development of multimedia projects like the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series.
Financially, the Group demonstrated resilience despite significant market headwinds. While the company experienced a sharp decline in market capitalization and stock liquidity, it achieved a consolidated net profit of 113.7 million PLN, representing an 8.3% increase over the previous year. This performance was driven by the successful release of Cyberpunk 2077 on next-generation consoles and a successful cost-reorganization effort within the GOG.COM segment, which returned to profitability. The company maintains a robust balance sheet, characterized by 2.2 billion PLN in total assets and a debt-free status, with over 1.18 billion PLN held in cash and liquid financial assets to mitigate future risks.
Operating on a global scale, the company continues to derive 96.1% of its revenue from exports. During this period, management took decisive action to suspend all operations in Russia and Belarus in response to the conflict in Ukraine. Furthermore, the company addressed legacy legal challenges, including a settlement regarding a US class-action lawsuit, while acknowledging that its current incentive program goals are unlikely to be met. Through these measures, the organization remains focused on maintaining its financial stability and technological competitiveness within the global gaming industry.
