Summary

The CD PROJEKT Group 2022 earnings report investor chat serves as a platform for leadership to address shareholder inquiries regarding the company’s financial health, project pipelines, and strategic direction. The primary thesis centers on the company’s commitment to maintaining independence while transitioning toward a multi-project development model, supported by a shift to Unreal Engine 5 and a focus on long-term franchise expansion.

Key operational updates include the status of the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, Phantom Liberty, which remains on track for a 2023 release exclusively for next-generation consoles and PC. The development team for this expansion consists of over 330 staff members, while approximately 200 employees are currently dedicated to Project Polaris, the first installment in a new Witcher saga. Management highlighted a 6% decrease in employee turnover during 2022 and emphasized that the company is financing its current project portfolio through existing cash reserves and operational profits rather than new stock issuance.

Strategic adjustments were also noted, specifically the decision to reevaluate Project Sirius to optimize costs and the shift in mobile gaming strategy toward external partnerships following the closure of Studio Spokko. To improve technical quality across future releases, the company has implemented agile development methods, restructured internal teams, and appointed a Chief Technology Officer to the Board. While the company acknowledges the potential of artificial intelligence, it maintains that such tools will not replace human creative labor. The leadership reaffirmed its intent to remain an independent entity, focusing on the long-term growth of its core intellectual properties rather than pursuing short-term acquisition or takeover opportunities.
