Bandai Namco
The Bandai Namco Group’s third-quarter results for the fiscal year ending March 2023 demonstrate strong financial growth driven by robust performance across its core entertainment segments. For the first nine months of the fiscal year, the company reported net sales of 743.1 billion yen, representing a significant increase of 114.8 billion yen compared to the same period in the previous year. Operating profit rose to 106.2 billion yen, supported by successful cooperative initiatives between visual works and established intellectual properties.
The Digital Business segment benefited from strong repeat sales of major titles like Elden Ring and consistent performance in network content. Simultaneously, the Toys and Hobby segment saw global success, particularly with products targeting mature fan bases and strong demand for cards, confectionery, and capsule toys in the Japanese market. The IP Production and Amusement units also contributed to the positive momentum, with the latter seeing a year-on-year recovery in facility operations despite rising utility costs.
Looking toward the full fiscal year, the company maintains a positive outlook with a net sales forecast of 940 billion yen and an operating profit target of 128 billion yen. To enhance shareholder liquidity and broaden its investor base, the group announced a three-for-one share split effective April 1, 2023. These results reflect a strategic focus on leveraging established intellectual properties, expanding global e-commerce capabilities, and maintaining high profit margins through disciplined cost management and diversified development approaches across its digital, physical, and amusement business units.
