Bandai Namco
The Bandai Namco Group’s fiscal year 2022 first-half results demonstrate strong financial growth, characterized by significant increases in net sales and operating profit compared to the previous year. For the six-month period ending September 2021, the company reported net sales of 393.6 billion yen and an operating profit of 61.7 billion yen, both exceeding initial forecasts. This performance reflects a robust recovery and expansion across the group’s diverse business segments, particularly within the Toys and Hobby division and the Amusement unit.
The Toys and Hobby segment emerged as a primary growth driver, with sales reaching 178.1 billion yen, fueled by strong demand from mature fan bases both in Japan and international markets. Conversely, the Entertainment Digital Business, while remaining a core contributor with 149.5 billion yen in sales, focused on the successful performance of repeat titles and the preparation of major upcoming releases. The Amusement unit also showed signs of recovery, with domestic facility sales rising by 39.1% year-over-year as pandemic-related restrictions eased and new arcade machines were introduced.
Looking toward the full fiscal year, the company has upwardly revised its consolidated forecasts, targeting 795 billion yen in net sales and 90 billion yen in operating profit. Strategic priorities for the second half include the continued development of high-profile intellectual properties, the integration of digital and physical retail experiences, and a structural reorganization of the IP Production unit to enhance creation capabilities. These efforts are supported by ongoing investments in research, development, and personnel, underscoring a commitment to long-term growth and the global expansion of the group’s entertainment portfolio.
