Akatsuki
Akatsuki Inc. reported strong financial growth for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, driven by the robust performance of its core Games business and expansion into the Comics sector. Net sales reached ¥12,483 million, an 8.0% increase year-on-year, while operating profit surged by 51.0% to ¥2,991 million. Net income attributable to owners of the parent rose by 26.7% to ¥1,410 million. The company maintains a solid financial position with total assets of ¥53,089 million and an equity ratio of 77.1%.
The Games segment remains the primary revenue driver, contributing ¥11,444 million in sales and ¥3,075 million in segment income. Success was largely attributed to the flagship title "Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle," which achieved top store rankings globally, and the steady operation of "Romancing SaGa Re;univerSe." Simultaneously, the Comics business demonstrated significant progress, shifting from a ¥231 million loss in the prior year to a ¥64 million profit, supported by the production of original works and collaborations with prominent creators.
Management has elected not to provide full-year earnings forecasts due to inherent uncertainties in the gaming market and the strategic shift toward proactive investment in the Comics business. To align long-term corporate value with employee and director incentives, the company issued performance-based stock acquisition rights in October 2024. These rights are contingent upon achieving specific adjusted EBITDA targets ranging from ¥12 billion to ¥30 billion between fiscal years 2027 and 2029. The company continues to prioritize large-scale, multi-device, and multi-language projects to maintain its competitive edge in the global digital content market.
