The World Technology Games (WTG) and the Global Esports Federation (GEF) have entered into a strategic partnership to integrate competitive gaming into a new, multi-layered international event scheduled for the third quarter of 2026. This five-day initiative aims to serve as a global celebration of human ingenuity, combining competitive tournaments with festivals and leadership summits. The event will focus on themes such as sustainability and artificial intelligence, highlighting advancements across industrial, life, earth, and data sciences.
The collaboration leverages the expertise of established leagues and organizations, including the Indy Autonomous Challenge and the GEF, to facilitate competitions involving scientists and engineers alongside professional gamers. While the specific financial terms of the agreement remain undisclosed, the organizational alignment is underscored by the fact that Paul J. Foster serves as both the CEO of the Global Esports Federation and the chairman of the board for the World Technology Games.
The scope of the project is global, with the organizers currently in the process of selecting a host city. Interested municipalities have been invited to submit proposals through September 2024. By merging high-level scientific discourse with competitive esports, the partnership seeks to elevate the profile of gaming within a broader framework of technological and industrial progress. This event represents a significant effort to bridge the gap between traditional STEM fields and the rapidly evolving esports landscape.
