Key insights

7 takeaways

01
The newly developed 'Arabic Mobile Game Heuristics' (AGH) outperformed both Nielsen’s Updated Heuristics and standard Game Usability Principles by identifying significantly more usability issues and more severe, catastrophic problems in Arabic mobile games.See it on page 5
02
In comparative testing on two Arabic mobile games, the AGH framework identified 13 and 12 usability issues respectively, compared to only 6 and 5 issues detected by Nielsen’s Updated Heuristics.See it on page 5
03
The AGH framework demonstrated a 23.7% to 28.3% higher effectiveness in detecting usability issues compared to general Game Usability Principles.See it on page 5
04
Approximately 75% of game development companies in the Arab region currently do not utilize formal heuristic evaluation methods for their mobile titles.See it on page 1

Effective Arabic mobile game design requires specific cultural adaptations, such as implementing a right-to-left (RTL) layout for navigation, menus, and imagery, as well as culturally sensitive visual representations.See it on page 2
06
Language localization in Arabic mobile games remains a critical usability challenge, as literal translations of common gaming terms like 'Game Over' often result in confusing or incorrect terminology for local players.See it on page 1
