Create free accountuh I came into game connection as part of the game Founders program in Estonia um this is our last week in Paris before we're back to the UK the US to uh get back to work on our games so it's it's definitely mobile uh game connection maybe for the whole game industry but what I'm seeing is a very strong Trend towards all things mobile here especially mobile social games uh and I don't see that stopping anytime soon I've been to slush casual connect Kiev GDC E3 and Casual connect San Fran this one is a lot more meeting based uh there's certainly far more meetings in game connection than anything else I've ever seen it's pretty much built around meeting with other people and setting up those meetings so it's meetings meetings meetings I think next year we're going to see even more mobile games even more startups a lot of a lot of money being poured into this a question of whether
it's going to reciprocate in the return I don't really know but I think that a lot of money is being poured into Mobile social and whether that pans out for everyone is too soon to sell
The mobile gaming sector is currently experiencing a significant surge in capital investment, driven by a strong industry-wide pivot toward social mobile experiences. This trend is particularly evident across major international industry gatherings, where the focus has shifted heavily toward mobile-first development and strategic networking. The current landscape is characterized by a high volume of business-to-business meetings, reflecting an intense effort by startups and established entities to secure partnerships and funding within this rapidly expanding ecosystem.
Projections for the coming year indicate that this influx of investment will continue to accelerate, with an increasing number of startups entering the mobile social space. While the volume of capital being deployed is substantial, the long-term sustainability and profitability of these investments remain uncertain. The industry is currently in a phase of aggressive growth, yet it is too early to determine if the current level of financial commitment will yield consistent returns for all participants.
This assessment is based on observations from major industry events held throughout 2013, including Game Connection Europe, Slush, Casual Connect, GDC, and E3. These venues highlight a global shift in focus, with the mobile social segment emerging as the primary driver of current market activity. The prevailing sentiment suggests that while the momentum behind mobile social gaming is undeniable, the market is approaching a critical juncture where the efficacy of these massive capital injections will be tested against actual commercial performance.
