Team Bliss Esports has officially finalized its acquisition of The Chiefs Esports Club, marking a significant consolidation within the Australian competitive gaming landscape. While the two organizations have merged into a single corporate entity, both brands will continue to operate independently for the foreseeable future. Management has indicated that long-term strategic decisions regarding specific team rosters and game titles remain under review as the organizations integrate their operations.
The financial terms of the transaction involved a $1 million AUD ($650,000 USD) purchase price for ICON Esports, the parent company of The Chiefs Esports Club, which was acquired from SQID Technologies Limited. In addition to the base purchase price, the agreement includes a tiered revenue-sharing structure spanning three years, with SQID entitled to 10% of EBITDA in the first and second years and 8% in the third.
The transition process is supported by legal counsel from Game Legal and the appointment of industry veteran Chris Smith, who will serve as an advisor for the next two years to facilitate the merger. Following the acquisition, ICON CEO Nick Bobir has stepped down from his position, and the remaining staff will transition to report directly to the leadership team at Team Bliss. This deal, which was first disclosed in August 2023, represents a strategic shift in ownership for one of Australia’s most prominent esports organizations.
