Gamecity Hamburg has launched its "Road to gamescom 2026" initiative, designed to support local game developers by providing them with a platform at the world’s largest video game event. The program offers five free exhibition spots at the Indie Arena Booth, a prominent joint developer space at gamescom, which is scheduled to take place in Cologne from August 26 to 30, 2026.
The primary objective of this initiative is to increase the visibility of Hamburg-based studios on an international stage. Selected participants receive a comprehensive benefits package, including exhibitor passes, USK clearing, inclusion in the Indie Arena Booth’s official lineup and sales event, dedicated social media promotion, and access to a preparatory workshop day. This support structure aims to facilitate networking with publishers, press, and other industry professionals.
Eligibility is restricted to commercially oriented game developers and studios with a headquarters or branch office located in Hamburg. Applicants must provide a playable version of their game for the event. A jury will evaluate submissions based on criteria established by the Indie Arena Booth. Interested parties must submit their applications through the official Indie Arena Booth registration portal by the April 20, 2026, deadline, ensuring they include specific identifiers to be considered for the Gamecity Hamburg program. This effort reflects the broader regional commitment to fostering the local games industry through targeted promotional and developmental support.
