A significant portion of experienced users actively seek out these games.
Positive View. 75% of mobile gamers hold a positive view of titles offering real-world rewards.
See it on page 3Reward-based user acquisition has emerged as a transformative strategy for mobile game developers, shifting from traditional incentivized downloads to a model focused on deep-funnel engagement and real-world value. The primary thesis of this analysis is that reward-based platforms—which offer tangible incentives like cash or gift cards for completing specific in-game milestones—effectively drive higher retention, longer session times, and increased in-app spending compared to conventional acquisition channels.
The findings are based on an independent survey of 2,003 mobile gamers across the United States and the United Kingdom, conducted in December 2024. Data indicates that 75% of players hold a positive view of games offering real-world rewards, and 72% of those who have previously received such rewards actively seek them out when choosing new titles. Furthermore, 85% of experienced rewarded players continue to engage with a game even after the initial reward incentives have been exhausted. High-value players, defined as those with significant monthly in-game spending, show a particular preference for these platforms, viewing them as a primary method for discovering new content.
From a developer perspective, the industry has largely embraced this shift, with 95% of surveyed game makers expressing confidence in the model and 77% having already deployed reward-based campaigns. These campaigns are credited with providing a competitive advantage, as they allow for granular tracking of user behavior and the ability to guide players toward key monetization points. While concerns regarding fraud remain a consideration for both developers and consumers, the study concludes that reward-based acquisition is a necessary evolution in a post-IDFA landscape, offering a sustainable, data-driven approach to acquiring and retaining high-value users.
