Focus Entertainment’s half-year results for 2023/2024 outline the company’s ongoing strategic transition toward a model centered on co-owned intellectual property, recurring revenue, and long-term franchise development. By integrating eight internal studios and four publishing labels, the organization aims to balance risk across a portfolio ranging from indie titles to AA+ productions. A primary objective of this period was the successful integration of Dovetail Games, which expanded the company’s capabilities in simulation gaming and contributed to a strengthened back-catalogue.
Financial performance for the first half of the fiscal year showed revenue of 85 million euros, representing a 30% year-over-year increase. This growth was driven primarily by a robust back-catalogue, which accounted for 69% of total revenue, supported by sustained live content for titles such as SnowRunner and Insurgency: Sandstorm. Despite this top-line growth, the company reported a net loss of 11.5 million euros and an EBITA of -1.5 million euros. These results were attributed to a demanding comparative basis against the previous year’s successful launches, increased amortization and production costs associated with a higher volume of releases, and the underperformance of the title Atlas Fallen.
The company’s operational scope remains heavily focused on digital distribution, which accounts for 90% of revenue, and international markets, which comprise 95%. The period saw the launch of nine games, including two AA titles and seven indie projects. Looking ahead, the company is prioritizing its second-semester pipeline, featuring major releases such as Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden and Expeditions: A MudRunner Game. Management continues to pursue an external growth strategy, supported by newly secured credit lines, to fund both organic development and future acquisitions.
