Las Vegas-based DarkZero announced the acquisition of NRG, a Los Angeles-based esports organization, on December 19, 2025.
The esports organization NRG has been acquired by Las Vegas-based DarkZero in an undisclosed asset sale, as announced in December 2025. This transaction marks a significant shift in ownership for the Los Angeles-based entity, though the NRG brand will remain intact. Under the terms of the agreement, DarkZero will retain the majority of NRG’s existing staff, coaching personnel, and active competitive rosters, including those in Valorant, Rocket League, and Counter-Strike 2.
The transition involves a strategic change in leadership, with NRG founder and CEO Andy Miller moving into an advisory role to assist DarkZero CEO Don Kim. Despite the sale of the core esports operations, Miller and his existing investors will retain ownership of Full Squad Gaming, the organization’s entertainment and gaming division. DarkZero intends to maintain NRG’s current roster of corporate sponsors, which includes brands such as ASUS, Rockstar Energy, and the Army National Guard.
This acquisition follows a highly successful 2025 competitive season for NRG, highlighted by a Valorant Champions title and a second consecutive Rocket League World Championship victory. DarkZero, founded in 2018, has historically focused on Rainbow Six Siege and intends to leverage this acquisition to expand its footprint in the broader esports landscape. The deal reflects a broader trend of consolidation within the industry, with the new ownership group emphasizing a long-term commitment to the stewardship of the NRG brand and its established fanbase.
