Luminosity Gaming is currently experiencing significant operational and financial instability following its acquisition by the Canadian media company Vertiqal Studios on August 30, 2025. The transition has resulted in widespread reports of delayed payments to players, contractors, and content creators, with some individuals claiming they have been left in a state of contractual uncertainty. These financial obligations, which reportedly total tens of thousands of dollars, were part of the liabilities assumed by Vertiqal Studios as part of the acquisition deal, which included a C$900,000 cash payment and the assumption of approximately $2.6 million in existing debt.

Public complaints from industry figures, including professional Smash Bros. players and graphic artists, highlight the severity of the situation, with some reporting months of unpaid invoices. Vertiqal Studios has acknowledged these issues, attributing the delays to an underestimation of the financial mismanagement inherited from the previous owner, Enthusiast Gaming. The new management team reports that they currently lack access to the organization's legacy bank accounts, forcing them to manually coordinate with individual creditors to process outstanding payments.
