The integration of enhanced software re-engineering and the game development life cycle provides a robust framework for revitalizing legacy digital entertainment. By applying these methodologies to the Tech Geek Quiz, developers successfully transformed a standard trivia title into an interactive hidden object game titled Guess the Tech Tools. This transition demonstrates that modernizing existing software systems through systematic re-engineering is a viable strategy for increasing player engagement and overall product quality within the educational gaming sector.
The research, conducted within the Indonesian market, utilized reverse engineering to extract core system requirements and mechanics from the original trivia platform. Following the implementation of the new hidden object features, the project underwent rigorous black box testing to ensure functional integrity. Subsequent evaluations using the MEEGA+ assessment model revealed significant quantitative improvements in user interaction. Specifically, usability scores surged by 50.26%, while player experience metrics rose by 30.29% among the 30 participants tested.
These findings confirm that the application of enhanced re-engineering techniques effectively bridges the gap between outdated software architecture and contemporary user expectations. By shifting the gameplay focus toward more immersive mechanics, developers can achieve measurable gains in satisfaction and engagement. This approach offers a cost-effective and efficient pathway for game studios to extend the lifecycle of their existing intellectual property while simultaneously elevating the quality of the user experience.
