GRID Esports has announced the launch of the Champions of Champions Tour (CCT) Dota 2 Circuit, marking the expansion of its proprietary tournament brand into the Dota 2 ecosystem. Building on the success of its established Counter-Strike tournament series, the organization aims to leverage its existing data infrastructure and operational experience to provide a structured competitive environment for Dota 2 players and fans.
The inaugural season of the CCT Dota 2 Circuit is scheduled to run from June 24 through July 3, 2024, featuring a total prize pool of $400,000 USD. The circuit consists of eight distinct online tournaments, each offering $50,000 in prize money. Each event will host 12 invited teams, utilizing a format that begins with a round-robin group stage followed by a double-elimination playoff bracket. First-place winners in each tournament will receive $30,000, with additional payouts for the second through fourth-place finishers.
This initiative represents a strategic move for GRID, which has previously managed operations for various Dota 2 competitions, including the Pinnacle Cup and HomeSweetHome series. By integrating Dota 2 into the CCT brand, the organization seeks to further solidify its presence in the professional esports landscape. All matches will be broadcast live via the dedicated CCT Dota Twitch channel, with further details regarding participating teams and talent to be announced.
