UK-based esports tournament organizer BLAST has entered into a three-year strategic partnership with the state-owned Chengdu Broadcasting Group Corporation (CBC). This collaboration marks a significant expansion for BLAST, as it establishes a formal presence in the Chinese market. While the specific financial terms of the agreement remain undisclosed, the partnership is designed to facilitate a series of high-profile esports events in Chengdu over the coming years.
The inaugural event under this partnership is the BLAST Dota 2 Slam, scheduled to take place from November 25 to December 7, 2025. The tournament features a $1 million USD prize pool and will culminate in a grand final at the Chengdu Fenghuangshan Sports Park Gymnasium, a venue capable of hosting up to 18,000 spectators. Twelve teams are slated to compete, with initial direct invitations extended to prominent organizations including Team Liquid, Team Spirit, Team Falcons, Tundra Esports, Heroic, and Parivision. Additionally, the live streaming platform Huya is expected to serve as a key partner for the event.
This development highlights Chengdu’s growing status as a hub for international competitive gaming, as the city is also scheduled to host the League of Legends World Championship Final and the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Chengdu in November 2025. By securing this multi-year deal, BLAST positions itself to leverage the region's infrastructure and audience base, marking its first foray into hosting events within China.
