The company, formerly known as Mogul Games Group, will rebrand as Lithium Galaxy Limited.
New Direction. Mogul Games Group is pivoting away from the esports industry to return to its original focus on mining and mineral exploration, rebranding as Lithium Galaxy Limited.
Mogul Games Group, an Australian-based esports entity, has announced a strategic pivot back to its original business focus of mining and mineral exploration. After failing to achieve profitability since its inception in 2015, the company is rebranding as Lithium Galaxy Limited. This transition marks the end of a multi-year effort to establish a viable presence in the esports sector, which included operations in tournament platform hosting, coaching, and content creation.
The company’s tenure in the esports industry was marked by significant financial underperformance, accumulating a total lifetime loss of approximately $35 million AUD. Despite raising substantial capital through an initial public offering on the Australian Securities Exchange and subsequent stock sales, the organization struggled to gain market traction. A recent attempt to implement a "buy and build" acquisition strategy failed to revitalize the business, leading to the decision to abandon the esports sector entirely.
Under the new corporate structure, the company has entered into a binding agreement to acquire lithium and rare earth exploration projects located in Australia and Canada. The transition includes the appointment of Iggy Tan, former Managing Director of Galaxy Resources Limited, as the new chairman of the board. The company intends to raise up to $4.5 million AUD through a public offer to fund these mining operations. Key leadership figures from the esports era, including Gernot Abl and George Lazarou, remain involved as the company shifts its focus away from competitive gaming and back to mineral resource development.
