foreign [Music] it's a pleasure and I know it's an effort after yesterday's party so that's even double appreciated uh so uh yes indeed today I wanted to talk a little bit more about attending attending events uh as uh as is a vital part of game developers Business Development people and overall in the game Industries uh key element also one of the drivers for the young people to join the industry but before we start I just maybe I'll tell a few words about myself uh so uh as you might probably know I've
yeah I've attended quite a lot of events in my life uh as I work in the video games industry since 2006 I've started in a CD project then I found in my own company which is Club butter it's like an indie publisher now I work for remote control Productions uh uh publishing games produce myself three of them as well and uh and and run couple of Kickstarter campaigns now so within my life I've been I think to almost every event in the world that is happening and in in in in the field of video games and I gathered a lot of experience from that a little bit of that I wanted to share with you today I couldn't couldn't share everything so uh the slides are pretty cramped with texts so hopefully gonna be able to have the downloaded afterwards if you have questions on the flight also do ask them I encourage for a bit more interactivity and uh uh first it's like the
interactivity exercise which I need to ask you a question like like please uh rise the hand those guys those of you who thinks attending live gaming events whatever B2B or b2c makes sense let's see okay all right so you made a conscious uh decision by attending this even that's cool that's great um and whoever thinks that it doesn't the remaining rest I would say that didn't realize the the hands so this is also the uh little question here I made uh before uh before the digital dragons uh it's not super representative just to be fair with you but I did it with my network when I asked this question does showcasing your game at life even still makes sense um as we can see that overall almost 75 percent makes set it makes a sense though they diversify between B2B and b2c there were two couple of true
answers which me which also uh where it depends right but uh but it depends it's so difficult to measure that I uh sort of avoided it for the moment so um so it means that let's say I would encourage to attend the events as well and the reason I ask this question is because lately I hear more and more people saying that attending live gaming events is not worth it anymore because there are digital events right so you don't need to you know spend the time traveling you don't need to spend that money actually because it also costs right to attend the events and you can just attend a digital Festival show your game over there pretty much effective you get wish this you get sales sometimes even after the events it's not that obvious right but I would like to challenge this idea I don't think just attending digital events uh is a solution it's one of the options but like uh live gaming events have an obvious benefits that we can uh we can
have a moment to talk about later so why fast for the exposure right uh I suppose most of you are uh either working for the companies that produce or develop video games or even develop the games them yourself right so attending live gaming events is obviously the priority of that is like showcasing your game or you can present it to a diverse audience uh whether it is B2B or b2c it's only up to you right so on and your scale on your budget but still this is the best way to get your game into someone on other people's eyes and attention you can do it also for networking that's the moment where you don't have a game but you whatever for whatever reason you want to make a career in development you can use the events for networking networking basically brings you business uh if you're looking for the publisher if you're looking for a business
relations if you're looking for building up uh your expertise in the business industry there's no better way to do it than attending a live gaming event and lastly it's for learning I think that for example digital dragons is one of those good events where you can attend and also listen to lectures rights meet with the people that have experience they share it there's tons of events like that that not only do that working but also do a little bit of a teaching like the most famous one obviously is GDC in San Francisco also this answers to the questions why I kind of connect with whom you're gonna meet who's gonna be your targets because I encourage to always build your attendance on the event with a purpose right so the the attendance is not the purpose itself right so you're not here because you like to be because you're here because you want to achieve something right usually you want to meet
with a specific group of people uh so uh so for each of the events the specific people attend them and then you can have the chance to uh to meet them I'll if you give me a moment I will show you in the next slide this is worth of noting uh because obviously one of the challenges uh standing in front of uh people entering the industry uh is like where to find the list of events right there's so many of them uh each country in the world I guess at the moment has at least one gaming event uh or so right they are all different types of those events and looking at them defining them and observing is also very important because they usually announce little bit earlier in the showcases they have deadlines uh uh so this is the link I'd recommend for checking this is a very useful uh site where all the
conferences are divided by Mouse they are divided by the topics not all of them are there there are tons of other as that you should follow like discourse channels where they publish the the messages about the incoming events your local organizations Gathering devs that help out with this but this site is the the one I use the most um obvious question you might have already seen it so far is it like uh I've been talking about B2B and b2c events right you know the difference right B2B is basically for the for making business right why b2c is the event where you actually meet your end customers if you produce the game so the game is and the question is whether to attend them or both of them at the same time and the answer this time is depends right so if you are developing the game and your target is you ready you have the game ready in a way that it could be showed to public definitely attending
b2c event is a question you need to answer and then there is a lot of variables that will help you to answer whether yes or no one of the most important of them is do I have the budgets right because attending with the game a live gaming event is a fairly expensive thing attending B2B is a little bit less expensive because the costs are generally concentrated around your travel right not about and accommodation there's no big cost of exposition of the game so uh so it's another kind of a category and maybe attending buff also makes sense it all depends on whom you're gonna Who You're Gonna Want who you want to meet at that event and with whom you want to uh mingle later on so if you are presenting the game right so your goal is definitely b2c as we talked right so uh for that you need to set up uh you need to rent the floor uh have a company that will build you the booth have a build prepare everything have a swag to share uh have a scenario
to whom you're gonna be showing this it could be in the way that you're showing it to your to Gamers but it could also be b2c in the way that you are showing it to the uh some kind of a stakeholders at that moment then there is obviously a newbies where you are showcasing your game in order to pitch it to show it to Publishers to show it to um to possible Partners that's the typical B2B let's say Target and at the end you want to create a buzz as well so this time with that uh purpose in your mind you basically focus on media which is also one of the stakeholders that are often met during the events uh Live Events specifically so uh each of these events has also a different kpis right this helps you to answer why do I want to attend them right for uh B2B the kpi is pretty simple you simply need to have a lot of business meetings appointed
then you need to have the proper follow-up you build your network you follow up these meetings you generate the opportunities for the new business with the presentations well basically you need to show your game to as many people as possible uh eventually they will generate you wishlist or sales it's up to you on what what level you are at the moment with the game and with the media it's you need to create connections right so um maybe they will write something after the event already but in most of the cases they will at least remember you exist right and this is uh also a fairly important uh goal you can achieve by attending the events that's a typical stereotypical representation of each of the groups there's a couple of extraordinaries here so I don't want to offend anyone but that's the imprint of them still each of these goals in each of these groups have different ways of
approaching right I would need to spend much more to describe them in details because there's a huge difference between pitching your game to journalists and pitching it to a a publisher but later on the slides are gonna share a couple of hints like what to do and then you can maybe also it will inspire you to research more on each of the topics uh so coming back to attending uh B2B events no there's a couple of them that I'm I I'm showing here right so uh um you need to prepare yourself a schedule of them right so depending on where you are located usually if you're in Europe there's a decent list of the events that are coming next to each other every quarter uh I would encourage rather to attend at least once a quarter in terms of a business development but not all of them because simply this will not be that super effective right like uh already we have like what five months of this year and there was uh already
reboot happening there was GDC right there's a digital dragons now uh there is no d games coming there are lots of those those events that are taking place at the moment and their main purpose is basically to meet other professionals right so you there you need to prepare yourself and your your uh your only goal is to get as many uh leads that will drive you a new business to your uh to your projects as possible uh try to work out not alone right so uh of course like the events like digital dragons if you're from Poland it's fairly easy to come here by yourself right but uh there are some events far away let's say I don't know there's you need to travel to games come to Colorado to San Francisco it's always easier to use one of the possible collectives there is quite a lot of them right so you can work with uh organizers that are private entities like Indie buffarena in
the mega Arena right they you where you apply with your game and they evaluate it and they take you together with other developers you share the costs you have a better Logistics easier one at least someone takes care about you at the event that's super helpful right you're not alone there or you can use your National organizations we have quite a lot of such institutions here in Poland right where you can apply either for funding or you can apply to join the group and be assisted in the way uh on the show it also helps out in this way that you are around among other people and you can share the thoughts see how they are the other ones are presenting the game this is something you can always leverage from uh and how to prepare for the B2B thing right this is the list of the Practical things so don't feel offended if they are too simple but sometimes it's worth to make that checklist before you go sometimes we do forget about stuff like that uh so I just wanted to say that book the tickets like the flight tickets
that uh whatever transportation and accommodation early this is so super important right like for example we have nine now right so uh Gamescom is in August and the prices and there's almost no hotels now available right uh so you know if you want to go there and you're already late right so so knowing that is like very important and book it in even in January right or Feb because then then the prices are half what it they will be in the next month um also when when visiting B2B events like don't you know try at least not to arrive at the day the event starts right don't rush from the airport or from the bus or the train straight to the event and don't leave the same time as the event ends because you're gonna miss probably either the events preceding or the ones that are shortly after like here at the digital dragons there are some events uh happening uh even late in the evening today right well some people are leaving so so it's always worth to have this little bit of an additional
buffer of a couple of days uh some events like digital dragons have the applications always download them because they have a you there you have a floor plan you have a list of attendees some of them offer this unique opportunity to meet and match it's always worth to have uh spending these couple of spare minutes and having another 115th up on your phone right then you can delete it after the show but it's still worth it right um and also check the check event rights whenever you're visiting the event some events are having an accompanying parties we all love parties right so attending as many parties as possible is sometimes a goal in itself uh so check them out in Eventbrite not all of them are listed on the official apps uh some of them are spontaneous or made by the the companies that are using this opportunity to meet do attend them because it's always good for networking uh but also remember about attending the
parties that you have the morning meetings like so uh it's like always very important to understand that pointing a meeting at 9 00 a.m or 8 A.M or half past eight the next day after the party simply doesn't make sense when unless you're a monk or something right and you're able to like wake up that early after the party um or you feel that torturing yourself is something good um remember to wear comfortable shoes that's kind of an obvious but like sometimes we fall victims to a style I've seen that poor guys I know wearing I don't know huge Martens or whatever shoes very uncomfortable trying to run eight calls in Gamescom and that was a pain just looking at it right I can't even imagine how painful it was walking in this in these shoes try to have anything to drink because usually you will not have a chance to meet to have a drink between the meetings um and uh and most importantly also don't book the meetings
back to back right this is also important if if we have a slots half an hour and we book them every half an hour that means absolutely you won't be able to to to to move between the meetings and most of them will always get either lights or prolonged for a couple of minutes uh uh not to mention you need to have a backup of your Peach and presentation that that is also think I've seen like laptops can uh go off there can be no uh charger somewhere right having any kind of a backup on iPad or no on phone is a must for any uh um forecasting and uh for seeing business uh that here yes so what are the same common mistakes I could say right so um being shy that's another big problem right so when you go to a B2B event you see a little bit as well but b2c mode be sure you are this kind of a person that
that is an open attitude right it doesn't mean you need to be maybe that is also a decision you need to make if you are more introvert and you are shy and you don't like really talking to other people which is fine like find someone who can do it right for you don't go and don't force yourself because these events are mainly about meeting random people and trying to talk to them which is sometimes intimidating but it is a necessity right uh depends on the cultural circles as well it's a bit different in Europe than it is in States I've been on lots of the conferences in in us and there that this Chief Church culture is is kind of like a standard for everyone right you always ask like hey what do you come from I come from here and you say how are you and stuff like that in Europe it's kind of like well is it like a weirdo is asking me where I'm coming from so like I don't know maybe he wants to sell me something so this is more intimidating and more difficult but it is necessary right I don't know try to find the
reason why you asked like you could be gonna ask for a way right you got lost so you you ask someone coming out of an interesting lecture was it interesting so he could share this is a good right topic to ask and don't feel like uh shy about it because we are all here to talk to each other not just to pretend we are uh like cool blooded cold-blooded professionals right lack of follow-up that's another thing lots of people I've met that are attending events are think are attending events they talk to each other and then after they even ends they go back to work and they forget right and then the event is lost basically because usually you can't make any deal on the event itself you always will follow up and afterwards you will do it right so if you lose this window of opportunity and couple of days after the event not immediately not the same time of course they even dance you don't follow up you don't memorize the person you don't also hook yourself in the person's uh memory you're gonna lose
that opportunity and you would need to attend the event again and again right uh over complicated message that's something that is more into uh when you pitch actually your game or overly as well as you showcase it I often have this issue with um the thing that usually on the live event you have a very limited time to meet with a person right I don't know a half an hour is already quite a long meeting you have if your message so the thing that you really want from that person is super complicated and you are too worthy to explain it this is also a loss of potential so be like don't worry about being too straightforward I would prefer even to have like someone saying what he wants from me in the first sentence rather than figuring out after half an hour what the heck the guy was wanting from me right uh that's also connected a little bit with the research right so going rock and meeting with just everyone randomly doesn't also make sense if you don't have any at least uh
common one common point with that person to talk about right so like uh you know you have all these people attending every meeting that they just just dropped into the schedule that's fine that's one of the strategies but remember that most of them will be just a waste of a time if you don't really have any business to do with that person technical issues that's something obvious right attending event without the power bank let's say right finding yourself in the middle of the show without the uh AC adapter for the laptop uh or any other weird concept of relying you will download something from the Wi-Fi during the show this is the technical problems that always uh hit you in the face in the most difficult moment uh that's about the B2B uh there could be lots of other hints right and uh from that I can share with you on attending such such event but now let's talk a few words about the b2c so b2c is a completely different story right uh you
should go there with a completely different setup and usually with a totally different people right these are the big shows right where usually you get a couple of hundreds or tens of thousands of people coming right like uh again Gamescom was 300 000 people right uh PG Pro post and game seven is close to 50 000 people right the main purpose main goal of that events is like go big show your game get as many contacts with your end customers as possible right um uh they are typically Gamers attending those events you get also some other stakeholders like uh people from the industry but they're different types so if you for example looking for a publisher this is not the place right because there will be mainly PR and marketing people attending those b2c shows and they are they they can help of course I mean it's not that you don't cannot do a networking with them but they won't talk about business with you mostly right and they will be super busy with showcasing their games so that's
also a lost opportunity in a way uh but if you want to learn how to Market your game if you want to see what is like the trends how the proof looks like what is the tools that can be used for marketing b2c are are the those are the events you should attend right there's a couple of them so also attending all of them is almost impossible with a limited budget uh I would I would recommend that uh at least attending uh 2 makes sense the most and those two cover the two most important markets from every video game developer perspective one is of course Gamescom which is covering mostly Europe right so you could get above opportunities there so you could get a B2B and the b2c and to have the your game showcase and show to one of the most expensive also and but at the same time most lucrative markets which is Germany uh that the second one would be any consumer event in the US right I personally liked pax's best uh there's
two of them one in March the second one in September but that's another unique opportunity to meet actually the the the US customers which are very far away from us and usually we European companies have issues with breaking through to them right and showcasing our games there is that opportunity uh to be simply bigger and more International of course that's even more expensive than B2B right so from all you you get all the same costs of like like travel cost at accommodation plus you get super expensive costs of building the booth so this is that moment when usually comes the question whether it is worth and then the answer of the good marketer uh the one that I love the sea level hates the most is that it depends boss right so uh I I would say that if you want your game to exist in the mass opinion it's worth always because it bring it it brings it it builds your brand awareness it also
is a kind of a social proof that you are big because you attend there so it's kind of like I'm on the event my game is visible there it means I'm bigger than the guys that are not there it's not it's a bit of a rule of a thumb so of course there can be exceptions if you have like a super drive and you have a good digital services and you're running thousands of wishlists like you can skip the event as well but if you are building your brand from bottom up from the scratch attending events like life one always brings this builds this opportunity gonna meet some bigger media media there or some stakeholder that will see your game and uh and you will benefit from it again as for the national organizations there are some organizations that are gathering Indies that could that could be a good partner uh like uh like the indicates or or important there is uh the the fundazia Indie Games posca if you apply again make some networking you can meet those people usually on the B2B events
by the way the organizers they can help you with uh with accommodating the costs of either the booth or or travels right because they build the joint booths and you just buy a separate stand on them which is good enough for a smaller Indie uh Developers uh what to remember uh before attending that events uh again like booking the tickets earlier that means that it's even early right when I attending Parks I need to be there at least two days early right and you need to always be like take that under consideration there's a jet lag coming to the equation which is always a problem uh and the most important part is building the booth this always goes wrong right I've never been uh through all my uh gaming and exhibiting life in the situation where my booth was ready for the show at the beginning right always something was missing right and usually it was like uh like really fundamental things right like electricity for example right there is like my experience is like the
electricity is the biggest challenge in the IT industry always doesn't work or the guy that does the electricity is not present right or is in another Hall so yeah you need to be uh sure it's it works before you go right uh that's why Always pack a MacGyver back with you right and whatever like your level is like you're the director whoever whether it's like even if the big companies like always have a screwdriver with you a duct tape right and the scissors what helps a lot is also a glue in the spray that's a bit of my own experience right because you need to stick something to the walls and stuff and then how to do it like you know if you don't have a glue right cutting with the scissors uh Swiss army knife is very helpful but they tend not to allow with it on the events in the US especially so it's worth trying uh some rules when you are already there and your Bluetooth beats so the the height is the the key thing right so I've seen often that the the even like if we go outside in here in digital
dragons uh some some identification is is low on the ground right and usually in the crowded places you don't see so if you have your booth and people are around it the every identification like a brand or logo or a call to action should be above the solder height right the higher the better also because you can see it from the distance the second thing is like uh I think it's on the next slide but I always say today it's a bright colors developers love black right we all know that the Grimmer you look the better right so it needs to be black or the only colorful element is the skull right or something uh or the Bloods but try to be colorful with the booth right like all the biggest brands usually have a very eye-catching nice colors right uh and this is a simple rule it attracts the sites right so if your booth is black and gray it doesn't attract the side plus one it's the logo type is at the bottom nobody sees what's there they just see some people playing and this is not efficient way to do it
also remember that having more PCS is important right the key kpi here is like to get as many contacts of the gamers with your game as possible so it's always better to have a cramped number of stations rather than a big floor with one station on the middle of it and lots of furniture around it because nobody is there for your furniture right they need to play the game so you need to have as many computers as possible that's why laptops are cool of course because you can travel with them uh if if you don't you can't travel then try to hire the PCS and hire them on the spots but earlier and not from the exhibitor right because exhibitor will charge you like triple dots right so find a local company that can rent some some better PCS when you are already there and you have a booth and you have some sort of a displays TVs it's always nice to have this sort of a messaging on top of the LCD right it's also fairly easy when you
will be renting uh and usually the exhibitors the the the trade first the shows they rent you some sort of LCDs and TVs then you can create a small pieces of paper that you can stick on top of the top frame of that TV with your messaging with your logo type with the QR code to the wish list for example and then everyone that plays the game sees this all the time and it's kind of again imprints in his memory plus if he likes it he can just immediately scan it with the QR code and get the wish list which is also uh we're trying that's the QR code I'm mentioning so also any kind of uh visuals you will be preparing whether it's a banner or a uh or a wall or any print needs to have this QR code and that really works I've been on many events and and and yeah people have this steam up they just go scan the QR code and they got it right like for those leaflets they don't work right because everyone like if you print tons of the paper it just lies around even if someone takes it usually they fold it and throw it away or put it in the
pocket and they leave it then in the hotel they throw it to the trash bin while if they scan the QR code at the wish list that's the immediate result you can get so definitely I would recommend that and don't go into the direction I will showcase the game myself only right because I have no friends or relatives right I mean in that sad situation at least try to look for someone but usually there's more than one of you right so um such events as parks for example they last five days right or four days so it's like four days nine two seven or eight sometimes standing on the uh floor without any padding right and having repeating the same 15 minute talk about your game for that 24 times five days right this is super exhausting and it is above any one single person abilities so two is the minimum I would say because you can at least switch to toilet or something right or one they can one
person can rest for half a day and another one and also remember the parties right but also two of you is better because you can organize the flow on your uh boof much better right so one person can play with the random spectator and let's imagine suddenly some cool influencer is coming right so you as a second guy we will person you will be able to talk to him and hold him until that person finishes for example right I've seen lots of lost opportunities this way right the guy was standing there pretty influential person but then you were busy by presenting your game and he simply went all went away right because he had one minute for you right if there would be two of you there's the chance that the second one is a hunter hunting for those guys also I encourage especially with the Indies the second person should really do uh like solicitating so like walk around the booth and just simply ask the people to play your game don't be shy that people some people need to be encouraged
especially in the US it's also a kind of a customer I would say and it's not perceived as too aggressive um oh yeah that's a bit of an example right so it's like if you put the logo type like over there right then probably it's gonna be covered by legs of people right and what they will see is like a like a cool cool image of the city right if you have the logo at the top then even if you meet like a two meter tall guys which happens a lot in Game Dev then you still can see through him what was the game right uh about and uh and that helps I would also put that QR code uh somewhere around top so uh people can scan it from the second or the third row um some think I'm slowly coming to an end hopefully uh how to prepare for the b2c event so nah that's again a huge topic right so I'll just go like uh sentence by sentence so you need to prepare a special build for that uh I totally uh encouraged to make
that effort right if you already invested time and you already invested money in being at the live event don't go with just your developers build there right which is kind of you know able to run a little in unity right uh it needs to be super polished uh that way that it needs to prove the concept of the game The Gamers on the live events of course they expect the game to have some problems so they are not there and they just to play full product but it should simply work that's one thing it should have the many blocked because usually Gamers on the Live Events they just love to explore your builds right so if you leave them for five minutes they will immediately go to the main menu and look into the options that are not allowed right so if you leave them unlocked your game is going to be screwed right um I recall all that once we had been showing a game about farming and maybe I don't tell the words and we left it with someone they immediately started cutting
really obstaining symbols in the hay with the tractors right because that was possible right so uh so that's why blocking some features might be good um and definitely allows you to control the show also what I recommend with the build it shouldn't be just the tutorial so sometimes I've seen this as a problem that let's say you want to show the game you prepared it for the show and the first half an hour is a tutorial how to play the game and usually remember that that these guys on the shows they have maybe five maybe ten minutes the most to spend with your game right and you don't want them to spend too much as well right because you need quantity not quality so you don't really need someone playing your game for two hours right because he's gonna block your station so the experience needs to be 10 to 15 minutes and if that 10 minutes is like a tutorial about where is what in your UI that's kind of not what you want to show write about your game that's why I would
maybe suggest have sales right have some saves let's start with the tutorial fine but break it or play the tutorial yourself and then ask if like if you're gonna go further with the tutorial that's fine but maybe I can show you how the game looks like further on right and then you upload the save and show the game when it's already a little bit more advanced to rebuilt because again you need to amaze the guy right and not show him that the game is having a tutorial prepare the scenario for the presentation that's also very important it's not it cannot be random like uh hey you want to play my game that's the game thank you bye let me know when you're finished that's not the scenario right and that's what's usual you get right I mean some people are okay if you see that the guys I don't know grumpy and he doesn't want to talk to you that's okay right you just you step away and he plays but like if you could encourage him and I want to show you how this mechanic Works uh I'll this is the character that is the main character in the game like talk about the game to the
guy while he plays right he will for sure value that and if you have the scenario for that it's easier for you to remember what to pay attention to when describing the game that's it uh yeah I mean this is one of the things like prepare to repeat a lot it's like because you will constantly say the same I at certain moment was like um having fun in uh changing what I'm saying right so I was like oh today I will tell it a little bit different right because it was like you're bored with uh saying 50 times the same story so uh so this is this sounds a little bit like a waste of time but what I think is that uh being at the event and showcasing it also helps you a lot to prepare a narration for your game like I was always feeling much better about the game after the show because I was already I was already knowing what is very difficult to explain and what people don't understand right so if you start like this is a uh roguelite game with a city Builder
element that is like uh I don't know Cult of the lamp that meets the eye of Beholder and you see that the guy is like and you know that this is a little bit too complicated maybe you should try to explain it differently and then training it with even 50 or 60 times simply would make your message easier simpler and better that's a huge uh benefit of attending such achievements be friendly and keep smiling smiling that seems so obvious but it's not right so I've seen lots of people standing uh next to your booth y because you need to walk to that person say sorry sir can I play the game or do you interrupt right also if you go with the friends don't stand each other and talk to each other I know it's super fun because you're meeting friends from the developers and you have tons of topics but this is again intimidating because I'm standing there I don't know you guys and you talk to each other and kind of don't want to interrupt right so I go away so unfortunately I know it's sometimes
difficult to be super smiling friendly after five days standing there like you know Paul but uh but yeah that's the rule right it's a little bit like in the U.S movies like do you want french fries with that you need to be like that right and you keep to be very enthusiastic this rule is a little bit different in Europe where in sometimes it sounds artificial but I think that being friendly and smiling is simply like just simply A good rule and be talkative to the Finish uh I don't know when to finish of course not like that it's not the Finish but uh yes I mean if you really don't know what to tell about your game that means you're the wrong person in the wrong place right you need to know everything about the game uh if someone asks you and you say like uh no I'm just from the I don't know art department and that's my game designer knows this question it's like means like oh yeah that's a bit boring right you should know every little aspect of the game unless you don't and if you don't know you could
always like try to I but if you create I have someone that can come and tell you right or something but don't reply you don't know right because it sounds a bit awkward so why are you presenting the game uh at the show uh yeah I was running a little bit because we still got five minutes but uh probably there's you know a hundred of more such hints I could I could tell you because it's a huge science attending these events but I wonder if you would have any questions maybe so far uh or any thoughts about attending events I can try to answer the questions now I guess so I have a question um because you uh told a couple of motives why we could attend the um b2c events and the one motive that I'm not I didn't see and perhaps that might be important as well is uh in gamedev there is also there is more often than
not a lack of motivation or burnout in your team and I think and I'm not sure if you agree with me that going to events when you meet actually your end customer and show you even your unfinished product really motivates the team to keep on going because usually on events of that kind people don't tend to be very negative they don't want to discourage the game developers from doing what they're doing and I'm just wondering what you think about that that's extremely good point so yeah so definitely that should be something I would say I should say and I totally agree so it there's two things like so one is very good for the team's motivation absolutely because you know meeting people usually they set the enthusiasm right so when you're like doing this game in your cave for ages and and now you find finally meet these people you're making this game for and they like it and usually you're right they like it on the shows you get a little bit of a criticism but still it's constructive in most of the cases sometimes in Poland you get a little bit
too criticism I need to say uh but still uh then at the end it drives a lot of your uh enthusiasm and then I always seen that after the shows both everyone from the team that was attending it felt more integrated and more invested in the in the product as well but another thing that I've kind of forgot but it's connected with that it's also attending the event is a very good motivational milestone for the team itself because it's one of the deliveries that you need to create on the production line side so let's say if you know you're gonna attend Gamescom you need to prepare a lot of things in in uh in that before that deadline and this is super uh motivating for the team right because you need to prepare the trailer the build the booth the creatives right it's a huge project in a way but with an immediate result because there you go and you see all your work is there on the on the show and it's standing as a booth or something so uh yes that's
definitely one of the let's say internal uh benefits of attending in-gaming events too foreign hi uh thank you for a talk and I have a question uh do you have any advice for someone who want to attend this kind of events for meet someone to cooperate with the project like the as I am like a single developer and I want to meet someone to like help me do like with me this game but help you to like the showcase on the on the show or like I'm not on the show but I like him on laptop with the game and I can show but I don't know how to approach like I will not go to random guy and so hey do you want to work with
me on my project yeah yeah that's difficult there's no true good answer to that I mean it's like if you're alone then well kind of you're alone so you need to you know cope with that challenge right and uh you can't that's why I was always encouraging to be at least two because you can't even leave the laptop right because if you go and talk and then you leave the laptop you may not find the laptop next time right or something so uh there's a couple of I don't know things you can do if your game is already at that level uh maybe you can ask someone from Community that's a good reward right let's say you have some people on on your steam Forum or Discord you know you will be attending uh you know digital dragons and showcasing your game on the b2c side and you could ask like hey uh I need the help maybe in the best scenario you could find someone from here from Poland basically but if not then maybe you can at least have someone that will go with you right a little bit like a work but you just cover the costs of travel I don't know or the accommodation if you can of course right
if you can't and sorry you need to do it right so you need to be uh open and and extrovert which is difficult that's why training that is I think one of the important skills of a solo and whatever Indie developer right presenting your games is a skill that needs to be learned right and uh and learning that skill is the best by practice so um so yeah that would be my advice though it's not the Super rule for that's kind of people like you so developing yourself but uh but yeah yeah I mean if you're not willing to meet and talk to people right or you don't like it or you just and then attending the event between on the b2c side doesn't really make sense from that perspective right to be honest okay thank you very much we are run of the time I think and it's time for for the break thank you very much thank you Mijo thank you for uh thank you for your time
