Tencent’s second quarter 2025 earnings report highlights a period of sustained growth, with total revenue reaching 184.5 billion RMB, representing a 15% increase year-over-year. This performance was underpinned by strong gains across core segments, particularly in international gaming and marketing services. The gaming division served as a primary growth engine, with domestic games revenue rising 17% to 40.4 billion RMB, bolstered by titles such as Delta Force and the continued performance of evergreen games like Honor of Kings. International games revenue saw a significant 35% year-over-year increase, driven by strong results from Supercell, PUBG Mobile, and the launch of Dune: Awakening. Additionally, the marketing services segment grew by 20%, benefiting from AI-powered adtech upgrades and increased activity within the Weixin ecosystem, where Video Accounts and Mini Programs marketing revenue each rose by approximately 50%.
FinTech and business services revenue grew by 10% to 55.5 billion RMB, supported by commercial payment volume recovery and cloud service expansion, including increased demand for GPU and AI-related infrastructure. The company maintained a robust financial position, reporting 468.4 billion RMB in total cash as of June 30, 2025. During the quarter, Tencent returned significant value to shareholders through the repurchase of approximately 39 million shares for 17.8 billion RMB and the distribution of 37.5 billion RMB in cash dividends. These results reflect a strategic focus on AI integration across product lines and operational efficiency, which contributed to an improved non-IFRS operating margin of 37.5%.
