The Hamburg Games Conference, held in March 2024 at the Altonaer Museum, served as a platform for regional indie developers to showcase their latest projects. The primary objective of the Road to Hamburg Games Conference program was to provide Hamburg-based studios with visibility, networking opportunities, and a venue to present their initial releases to an industry audience.
Seven local indie studios participated in the expo, highlighting the diversity of the Hamburg development scene. The featured titles included Osmotic Studios’ emotional life simulation Closer the Distance, Pipapo Games’ exploration-focused Map Map A Game about Maps, and Impawsible Games’ action-oriented Ninja Brigade. Other showcased projects included the multiplayer party game Stack’em Up by Godcomplex Games, the movement-based We the Valarii from Bagpack Games, the atmospheric puzzle-adventure Journey Beyond the Edge of the World by Markus Koepke, and the cinematic Metroidvania About Cannons & Sparrows by About Cannons + Sparrows.
This initiative underscores the ongoing efforts of Gamecity Hamburg to foster local talent through structured support programs, including incubators, funding, and industry events. By facilitating direct engagement between developers and potential partners, the program aims to strengthen the regional games ecosystem and promote the commercial viability of independent projects emerging from the Hamburg area.
