Polaris 2023 Recap: Germany

The Polaris 2023 convention, held in October 2023, served as a significant gathering for the German gaming, anime, and community sectors. The event, which took place in Hamburg, experienced high demand, resulting in sold-out attendance for both Saturday and Sunday. A primary highlight of the convention was the successful establishment of a new Guinness World Record, verified by an independent jury, which required the assembly of 492 cosplayers in game-related costumes.

The convention provided a platform for industry engagement and professional development. Gamecity Hamburg hosted a booth that facilitated networking between established industry professionals, students, and aspiring developers. The booth also showcased several titles from the organization’s "Road to" program, including About Cannons & Sparrows, Light of Atlantis, Beacon Patrol, Turbo Shell, and Reddie - ReRun Reality. Additionally, the event featured a Gamecity Treff industry networking session at the Grüner Jäger, which drew nearly 300 attendees from across Germany.

The programming throughout the weekend included a variety of community-focused activities, such as cosplay contests, live content from Rocket Beans TV, and meet-and-greet sessions with prominent German digital creators. The success of the 2023 edition has led to the scheduling of a follow-up event for October 2024, with organizers aiming for an expanded scope.
