Net revenue reached 1.9 trillion yen ($12.2 billion) for the period from April 1 to December 31, 2025.
Nintendo’s financial performance for the first nine months of fiscal year 2026, covering the period from April 1 to December 31, 2025, reflects a period of significant growth driven by the successful market adoption of the Switch 2 console. The company reported a 99.3% increase in net revenue, reaching 1.9 trillion yen ($12.2 billion), while net profit rose by 51.3% to 358.8 billion yen ($2.3 billion) compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.
The hardware transition remains a central theme, as the Switch 2 reached 17.37 million units sold by the end of December 2025, with 7.1 million units moved in the final quarter alone. Conversely, sales of the original Switch console declined by 66% year-over-year to 3.25 million units. Despite this slowdown, the original Switch achieved a historic milestone, reaching 155.37 million lifetime units sold, officially surpassing the Nintendo DS to become the best-selling console in the company’s history.
Software performance mirrored these hardware trends, with 37.93 million copies of Switch 2 games sold during the nine-month period, while original Switch software sales saw a 12.1% decline to 108.93 million copies. Notable software contributors included Mario Kart World with 14.03 million copies, Donkey Kong Bananza with 4.25 million copies, and Kirby Air Riders with 1.76 million copies. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe continues to maintain its position as the top-selling title for the original Switch, with lifetime sales reaching 70.59 million copies as of December 31, 2025.
