This milestone includes revenue from NCSoft's Lineage M and Netmarble's Lineage 2: Revolution.
The Lineage mobile franchise, comprising NCSoft’s Lineage M and Netmarble’s Lineage 2: Revolution, has achieved a significant financial milestone by surpassing $4 billion in cumulative lifetime gross revenue. This performance underscores the enduring commercial viability of the MMORPG genre on mobile platforms, with both titles demonstrating strong monetization despite varying user acquisition strategies and regional market penetration.
Lineage M, launched in June 2017, accounts for $2.3 billion of the total revenue, while Lineage 2: Revolution, which debuted in December 2016, has generated $1.7 billion. Revenue distribution is heavily skewed toward Android, which represents 85 percent of Lineage M’s earnings and 61 percent of Lineage 2: Revolution’s. Geographically, South Korea serves as the primary revenue driver for both titles, contributing nearly 90 percent of Lineage M’s total and 57 percent of Lineage 2: Revolution’s.
The data highlights a notable disparity in average revenue per download. Lineage M has achieved an average of $279 per install across 8.2 million downloads, whereas Lineage 2: Revolution has generated $57 per install across 30.5 million downloads. While Lineage 2: Revolution maintains a broader global reach—with significant user bases in Indonesia and the United States—Lineage M exhibits a highly concentrated, high-spending player demographic. These findings, derived from Store Intelligence estimates, illustrate the franchise's capacity to sustain high-value engagement within the mobile gaming sector as the industry prepares for further expansion with subsequent franchise entries.
