The Esports Advocate
GameSquare Holdings has entered into a strategic partnership with Barnes & Noble College, a division of Barnes & Noble Education, to develop and implement collegiate esports and gaming programming across the United States. This collaboration aims to leverage the extensive reach of Barnes & Noble College, which operates over 1,100 physical and virtual campus bookstores, to engage a potential audience of nearly 6 million students.
The primary initiative under this partnership is the launch of a new collegiate esports series titled the Legends Cup. GameSquare will be responsible for developing and managing the program, which is scheduled to feature multiple competitions throughout the 2025–2026 academic year. The structure of these events will include online qualifiers that culminate in live, in-person finals held on a national stage. While the specific games, event locations, and sponsorship details remain forthcoming, the program is designed to foster competition, education, and social connection within the campus environment.
This partnership represents a significant effort to integrate structured gaming experiences into the collegiate landscape. By combining GameSquare’s platform and expertise with the established campus infrastructure of Barnes & Noble College, the initiative seeks to provide students with professional-grade competitive opportunities and valuable extracurricular experiences. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
