Create free accountgreetings guests of this internet theme park we call YouTube and welcome to another episode of games you can't possibly have tried yet why not you ask well because all of these games were made by your very own Pierce specifically for our recent game Jam so please buckle up keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times and prepare yourself for a voyage into the minds of your fellow ec viewers as always we received a dazzling array of submissions that were weird delightful and sometimes even ravishing but since we don't have time to cover them all we're going to showcase a few games that we felt took our game jams theme of passage to particularly interesting places oh and also keep an eye out for games that fulfilled our extra challenges such as extra CGA extra media and my personal favorite extra Zoe there you are bud so with that let our passage begin the hallway we at EC love escape
the room games in fact some of us have even designed real-life ones what up Arthur but like any good escape the room game the hallway follows a logical progression so you're always moments away from the next aha and thankfully it avoids the curse of pixel hunting though technically there are some physics bugs that make manipulating them their objects a bit finicky but boy howdy that kind of comes with the territory these here game James could because that their hallway over yonder may be a literal passage between them spiritual and physical ramps but what just happened I blacked out for a moment Todd did something possessed me just to speak in a terrible Western accent dude that was weird and probably totally unrelated [Music] momentary it's a walking simulator as a card game you print out decks of cards that each show an interesting piece of scenery and shuffle them into six decks then each roll of a six-sided die dictates which deck you draw from until you find the end card it's a bit like experiencing
the great outdoors without actually having to go to the great outdoors coming from an indoor kid I find that highly efficient and momentary even has a quick play mode where you can play with five decks and stop when you roll a six though granted this mode does have a particular bug as our first roles in two concurrent games happen to be sixes who shortest trip ever contests to suggest this game is like competitive six degrees of separation the goal is to get from the starting word to the target word in the least amount of connections but what makes it genius is that each player gets to choose the other player starting work and then each move shows a player a variety of synonyms or related vocabulary to choose from leading down a vocabulary rabbit hole just like all those late-night binges through Wikipedia or TV Tropes [Music] obelisk please this game is an unabashed ripoff of papers pleased and proud of it your job as Karin ferryman of the River Styx is to fill your boat with the
requisite amount of ally and souls but the matters a bit complicated because you only have so much room in your boat and Hades is not the kind of boss you want to upset so you got to pick up the soul's offering the right deals our only complaint here is that the game's a bit easy we actually had to try to lose but on the plus side who knew that lost souls were so good at telling jokes this is also the only game I can think of that plays different music on the main menu each time you load it up and I just wanted to point that out because it's awesome into the bullet-hell now I don't know how many people have read the Divine Comedy and thought you know this book would make a great vertical endless-runner but thankfully these jammers did and you'll definitely want to get all the way down to the bottom to see what kind of special hells await you because rivers are boiling fire are bad but long IRL lines or PC exclusives who those are real hells the controls are as simple as they come and the gameplay moves at a fast pace though it can be easy to lose your character on-screen in all the action and it would
be nice to have a stage select but otherwise this game is remarkably polished [Music] moving makes you smaller you know I always love when a games title is also its instructions in moving makes you smaller guess what happens every time you move Oh a cat can dream while moving in fact makes you smaller standing still makes you grow larger so you'll need to continually move until you can squeeze through the levels but you have to be careful if you get too small you'll poof right out of existence oh and don't collide with those angry red balls either what really shines about this game however is its charming aesthetic the CGA color scheme plus the upbeat music and hilarious facial expressions give the whole thing a very playful feel and trust me so so it's definitely worth finishing to check out the ending dues radical passage what kind of post-apocalyptic future is in store for us well if dudes radical passage is any indication we're in store for quite a vibrant CGA landscape catchy as heck
music and a rad party what's striking about dudes apart from the aesthetic design is how much variety there is in the gameplay here each level in dudes is actually a different game running the gambit from Mario Kart to Missile Command just a toku now some games could use clear instructions and sometimes the physics don't want your pieces to stay put but dudes most definitely deserves props for how much content they crammed in given only four days hopefully after thrown a party like this these jammers took a long well-deserved nap eighty days okay this one's wild it's around the world in 80 days as an MMO strategy game but hosted entirely on a discord server yes really eighty days is simply a custom discord server with a bot each new player is assigned one out of three teams racing around the world from London and back then each new in-game day which lasts one hour in real time gives players a small amount of money they can spend via chat commands that can be used to either help their teams progress or sabotage
another and rumor has it when this game was live Zoeller did some pretty crafty Saboteur in themselves we all love to see when games take advantage of unique platforms like this and I have to believe that Jules Verne of all people really would have been ecstatic to see his works brought to life with modern technology than this level of creativity well dearest viewers we've reached the end of our passage showcase of course one video can't cover all of the amazing and crazy entries we received so we definitely recommend clicking the link below and trying some more of the games out for yourself and even though our passage is ended remember don't cry sweet games are not because of games so let's get to play it
Oh trip today so we get off the get off the keyboard please oh geez this is very stressful I can't hit these notes you know it I know it oh yeah wastin time if we aren't clicking the links to play the awesome games from the jam at the link below thank you to solare thank you to the mods thank you to the entirety of the EC game jamming community all of the
participants you all make this awesome and I love it each and every time it comes around thank you so much and uh yeah keep being awesome [Music]
This showcase highlights a selection of standout entries from a community game jam centered on the theme of passage. The event encouraged participants to interpret the theme through diverse mechanics and platforms, resulting in a collection of titles that range from traditional digital experiences to experimental, non-traditional formats. The primary objective of the showcase is to celebrate community creativity and highlight how developers navigated specific constraints, including optional challenges related to aesthetic styles and media integration.
The featured games demonstrate a wide variety of design approaches. Notable examples include The Hallway, an escape-the-room style puzzle game; Momentary, a physical card-based walking simulator; and Contest to Suggest, a competitive vocabulary-based game. Other entries utilized unique platforms, such as 80 Days, which functions as an MMO strategy game hosted entirely within a Discord server. Technical and design variety is a recurring theme, with some games focusing on narrative-driven mechanics, like the Papers, Please-inspired Obolus, Please, while others prioritize fast-paced action, such as the vertical runner Into the Bullet Hell or the multi-genre Doods: Radical Passage.
The showcase emphasizes the ingenuity required to produce functional, engaging software within the short four-day development window typical of these jams. While some entries faced minor technical hurdles—such as physics bugs or balancing issues—the overall assessment highlights the impressive polish and creative use of limited resources. By showcasing these projects, the event underscores the value of community-driven game development and the potential for unconventional platforms to foster innovative gameplay experiences.
