The Digital Educational Game Review and Evaluation Engine (DEGREE) model serves as a robust, globally applicable framework for assessing the efficacy of serious games. By leveraging a scalable, single-click expert validation design, the model provides a standardized approach to evaluating digital educational tools across diverse international contexts. The primary objective of this research is to confirm the conceptual suitability of the DEGREE framework, ensuring it remains effective and linguistically unbiased regardless of the geographic or cultural setting in which it is applied.
Empirical validation of the model involved 385 experts across 34 nations, yielding a 38% response rate and a high global fuzzy mean score of 0.84. Statistical analysis indicates that 87% of participants categorize the model as either suitable or highly suitable for its intended purpose. While minor regional variations in feedback were observed, these are largely attributed to disparities in local digital learning maturity and existing research ecosystems rather than fundamental flaws in the model itself. The findings confirm that the framework maintains high cross-cultural stability and consistency.
Methodologically, the study introduces a streamlined, fuzzy-based paradigm that offers a highly efficient alternative to traditional, resource-intensive psychometric testing. By utilizing fuzzy set theory to interpret expert judgment, the research demonstrates that rapid, large-scale international validation is both feasible and accurate. This approach establishes a new standard for evaluating serious games, providing developers and educators with a reliable, globally validated instrument that transcends regional boundaries and supports the continued growth of digital education.
