The acquisition means Team Gullit's team will officially transition to the Team Liquid brand. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed by either organization.
Team Liquid has officially acquired the Dutch EA FC esports organization Team Gullit, founded by Ruud Gullit and Schalk Stalman. This strategic acquisition integrates the specialized EA FC roster into the broader Team Liquid brand, allowing the players to compete under the organization's banner while maintaining existing commercial partnerships, such as those with Philips OneBlade. While the financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed, the move marks a significant consolidation within the competitive EA FC scene.
The acquisition follows a successful collaborative period between the two entities, which began in 2024. During the 2024 Esports World Cup, the partnership proved highly effective, with Team Gullit player Manuel Bachoore contributing to a top-eight finish in the EA FC category. This performance was instrumental in helping Team Liquid secure second place in the overall club championship, resulting in a $4 million prize. By bringing the roster—which includes notable champions such as Emre Yilmaz and Levi de Weerd—fully under its control, Team Liquid aims to leverage its existing infrastructure, including Alienware’s Pro Lab and SAP’s AI tools, to further enhance the team's competitive performance.
Following the transition, Team Gullit co-founder Corné Dubelaar will step down from daily operations but will continue to serve as an advisor to Team Liquid. The acquisition underscores a broader industry trend toward professionalizing EA FC operations and highlights the commercial value of high-performing, niche esports clubs within larger, diversified international organizations.
